dannyboy12, then simply take it home, teflon tape the threads and re-thread it back into the tank and it's fixed.... if you have any further questions feel free to contact myself or one of our service techs at service@ jjscustomplumbing. comfor faster response times...
@jjscustomplumbing no need to turn the thermostat down turning the knob from on to pilot does the same thing as it does not allow the burner to come on any way.
dannyboy12, that is something that is common if there is a very high build up of sediment from not flushing annually. Just one of those things most homeowners don't know to do cuz a lot of plumber don't bother to tell you so they can make money on another install in a shorter period of time... as for the T&P it's probably easier to just go buy a new one for your tank. simply drain the tank below the t&p level and unthread the t&p... take it to a plumbing wholesaler and pick up a new one...
Hey dennyselectric, most plumbers have there own methods of doing things, this is just my method. It's the easiest, most practical and most logical in my own opinion... glad to hear that you found the video helpful.

hey 9maggio66 it won't make a difference which one you drain first... sry for such a delayed response, I rarely check the comments here, just way too busy... if you have any questions please e-mail service@ jjscustomplumbing. com for faster response times...
Thank you JJsCustomPlumbing for the best video I've found.
Unfortunately I experienced a problem, using the T&P relief valve to vent caused a new problem by allowing sediment into the valve which prevents a good seal and now my T&P relief valve drips.
Is it possible to flush the tank without using the T&P relief valve as a vent?
Hey JJ. How come from watching 20 how to clean out your gas water heater do you get 10 different methods?? I like yours the best. Seems the most logical.
Thanks Justin! I just finished doing this based on your video and it worked like a charm. In my case it took around 1 hour for the (50 gallon) tank to drain. I'll be doing this on an annual basis now.
to be honest it doesn't really matter which one you start with... just make sure to set the burner to pilot or vacation before starting on both, then simply follow the steps in the video... glad to be able to help out. if you have any further questions or to receive faster response times please contact us through our website. (I don't typically check these comments more then 2-3x a month.
thanks. very helpful and easy to understand, just wish I would have been doing this the last six years. BTW, what if you have two 50 gallon heaters and one feeds into the other as a back up? Which one do you drain first?
ya no need for shutting it off, as honda said, if set to vacation or pilot only the tank will not fire... just do not forget these or you can cause damage to the tank.
Thanks everyone I am glad the video's have helped some of you out. for more tips and video's please check out our website.
