The reason it flashes 8 along with 2 is because of the level of the drums... if it were the RB2 kit, the 8 (in my case it's 11) represents the toms, and what I believe would be 9 for you but is 12 for me represents the cymbal expansion ports
the axis tells how hard it hits. If you try mapping it right, you could make it louder the harder you hit. Your program might not be able to, though. If on Linux, try qjoypad. It could probably do it, I'll test it later though.
You wondered why it does both 2 and 8? That's because each pad has both a 'button' and 'axis' sensor; it knows when you hit a pad as the button, probably 8, and how hard you hit it, probably 2. If you're playing rock band, note the explosion effect and sound above your notes when you hit. Note how the harder you hit, the bigger the explosion/louder the sound (try it when doing a fill though, it's more noticeable). That's because while the button activates to register a key...
@herolief this is the original wii rock band 1 drum set, which is usb and does not have any velocity sensitivity. if i were trying to hook up a rock band 2 kit, your comment would apply, but i do not believe it does with the original wii drum set.
awsome video dude i wanted to do this when guitar hero came out when i hooked up my guitar hero guitar to fruity loops totaly read my music head bro awsome job ma dme no that i was stil smart ye ayou can do the same other thing with playststation usb toys to joy 2 key also and xbox hook ups aslong as its usb i gota target guitar and it worked with all 3 pc guitar hero games saved meabout 400 bux heck ya dude rock on!!
dude i did this, too. but a cool variation i had was i used two sets (i had a old broken one.) i used the extra pedal for the hi - hat. its awesome u should try it!
YA GREAT IDEA, but unfortunately when i bought my rock band game bundle they were sold out of the "rock band with real drum set!" edition for the same price. man, to think, instead of playing this game that i wanted to play, i could have had a real drum set! man i would be so cool then huh! man i am such a dummy! lawl real drumz are where it's at, not video games! it's like when i was gonna go buy halo, i was like wtf i could just buy a real gun and go kill some alienz!lolz!
@herolief you miss the point with your comment. besides the fact that this video was made around 2 years ago, the fact that the upcoming rock band game will allow you to use an electronic drum kit via a midi converter does not have anything to do with using the cheap game drum set that comes with the game on a computer.
fpc came free with my copy of FLStudio, which i paid $99 for back in the day. the version i got now costs $199. you can download the demo for free, though, and can give it a shot.
low cost?Fuck man,The drum set here on brasil is abour U$250 I already got the game but cant play,I have no RB instruments Im fucking angry,so if its low cost send me a drum set please =)
Would you mind doing one on the Wii Rock Band guitar too please? I just got my copy of Wii Rock Band(it just came out in NZ) and Im curious to use it on my computer
How did you map the buttons in FPC to the different sounds? I have it all configured in JoyToKey, but I can't change anything...or rather don't know how.
beatmania IIDX is primarily an arcade game, konami releases it for playstation2 in japan, and you can get free simulators for the PC that are similar to stepmania - some good ones are lunatic rave 2 and bepachi music. it's possible to run an arcade hdd rip on a windows XP machine, but that's illegal.
there is a US version, but it is terrible. good for beginners though, as it's cheap. for the japan releases you need a japanese ps2 or swap magic pro.
it's a plugin. channel > add > FPC. or you can navigate plugin presets in the browser on the left for FPC. if you are a registered owner of FLStudio you should also be able to download over 500MB of FPC presets/kits via the samplefusion content library dropdown/button at the top of the FPC window.

This drum sound like shit, seems to have a bid delay and don't even have anything that looks like cymbals., buy yourself a real electronic drumkit. Look for td12k on youtube.
wow, you're a tool. thank you for explaining the differences between the rock band drum kit and a real electronic drum kit. and also thank you for informing me that i should buy a real electronic drum kit for over $4,000 (the one you named) and replace this $70 video game drum kit. WOW
yeah, i think i'm going to soon record a new video where i actually put this to use, but have drum silencers on. i was disappointed after i recorded this video because of how loud the damn drums were, especially on the recording.
lmfao i tried this the other day, i forgot about FPC and was using drumsynth live, maybe that would explain my ususually bad PC performance at teh time...Do you do Music Production by any chance?
was that a question? i guess your english isn't so good since you're a ninja and all?
=)
i think i'm going to either add a how-to text to the description (even though i pretty much explain it all in this video), or explain how to in more depth in a second video.

@sk8dork Or you could wait until Rock Band 3 where they allow you to use real sets via a MIDI converter.
