2. when the windows loading screen comes on press reset button. when windows turns back on it will detect a booting problem because of the reset.

3. dont select start windows normally, do the other option. i forget what its called.

4. windows will load for a while

5. when it asks if u wanna restore select yes. dont worry, none of ur stuff will get deleted. it will just uninstall recent installations including libusb

hi guys just to let you know i found out a way to fix your usb port. Ok all you have to do is go to control panel and go to internet conection and then go onto restart setting for computer the it fixes your usb and to fix the iphone all you need to do is hold the top buttun for three secconda the the home buttun for ten seconds and then it will start up again

People who use Vista or 7 DO NOT INSTALL libusb. Even if you change the compatibility to XP your USB port will still screw up! Use an XP computer or a virtual machine on XP.

For those whose LIB USB isnt working on vista or 7, before you install it

right click on it and select properties

then set it compatible for your version of windows (service pack 2 normally)

then when you install, it wont cut off all usb ports and devices

@87falcon Yeah, I ended up being stuck with 4.0.2 also, but supposedly they're coming out with an update aimed at 3G fixes. It should be out anywhere from this week to mid-Sept.

@DavidTheOriginal Check the firmware you got from Apple. Like you, it kept doing that. I looked at the folder where the restore file is and noticed Apple has given me a firmware for a 2nd generation. I know for sure that mine isn't 2nd gen. So, basically I got a 3.1.3 2nd gen firmware. Put it in the folder where the latest firmware is; put my iPod in DFU mode, Pressed and held Shift key and pressed restore, and finally it was 3.1.3. Try it maybe it will work for you.

Naw, I did everything right. I did a bit of googling after I managed to uninstall LibUSB and found out it basically dissasociates all of the USB ports from the computer. So me an other people that have devices that plug in to a USB (mouse, modems, keyboards, etc) will find they all go dead after the installation of LibUSB. A simple uninstall should help anyone scratching their heads. LibUSB puts a shortcut to uninstall on your start menu, so the windows key helps!

libusb is a system file so it replaces ur system file on your operating system. so u need to configure the libusb file to b compatible with your system.

after installing libusb

right click on your file

hit compatibiliy

check to use as an administrator

n check as an XP
