I bought this video to make videos with my cuzin, and for my dad to video my hockey games. we traveled to a rink, that was kind of cold, and the touch screen stopepd working. it doesnt work at all. i had it for about 2 months. i do not reccomend this camcorder for people who live in the north, cuz it will completely mess up the touch screen. the zoom is amazing, and video quality. but the image quality sucks. i reccomend it forpeople who live in warm weather, or who ever doesnt go outside with.

I use this camcorder for my videos. I absolutely love it.

The camcorder has received lower reviews because the image quality is so low. But you don't buy a camcorder for pictures, you buy it for video.

This video does not explain that it also has a microphone zooming feature, and several recording modes (ex: a recording mode for fireworks,) as well as a built in lens cover that you can slide to protect the lens while not in use.

What I dislike is there is no port for an external mic.

I've had this camera for almost a year and it has excellent sound quality, almost like you're wearing an external mic. The zoom is awesome, it records in 480p but I render all my youtube videos in 720p and it looks great.

Definitely worth the money if you're just trying to film youtube videos or home movies.

I purchased one and was a little disappointed in the picture quality. The image looked washed out and blurry and even worse when recording under low light or during dark scenes.

Even Cheaper Mini DV cameras by sony are alot better!

Cpacity 4GB its only 55 mins recording and then you have to buy expensive memory sticks that are double the price of SD cards.

Neither. It is 480p I think. This is a standard definition camera, not an HD.

No this camera is not god at shooting in the dark because the lens is so small, it's a very small camera. So if you're looking to buy something to shoot in the dark don't buy a tiny camera, you get what you pay for. You cannot connect other lenses to this it's a Sony Handycam.

I just bought one and not happy with it....

For indoor or night shooting (poor lighting ex. flourescent light only, inside the church or home) the outcome is very bad... (search youtube videos taken in the night) Image goes orange and blurry. But for outdoor or in daylight the video is perfect..... But the thing is for family use most precious moments are either indoor or at night and I think most agree with me.....Cheers!

Sony Handycam DCRSX40 is better then a webbie. The webbie is HD but if you move the camera the picture goes bad. If the webbie is on a tripod then go webbie. If you are going to hold it in your hand then go with the Sony Handycam DCRSX40

if im not mistaken, jvc and canon have codecs for their video, .mod or something like that which makes it hard to edit. keep that in mind if you plan on editing your videos
