@gunzfactory It's not. Anyone building any car like this will know that you won't have it on the road for much less than 50k, and if someone's building it for you you may as well double that.
this is so nice... there are a couple places where the design gets a little "kit" looking (the top of the roll-up window, the vents on the hood, the front air dam, the side scoop, door handles) but I would be willing to deal with all of that myself considering the cost. Anyway, I have had my eye on this for years and might just pick one up soon... we'll see. that 33 ford has some pretty hot engineering to it so who knows?
i would turbocharge the ls9 (or ls7) and run it at 25psi and put that in there. it would destroy the veyron and every other little toy dubai can throw at it. cost? 1/5 of those richybitchy lambos and ferraris
forged internals would be a must, but price wise I dont think it cost the same as lambos and ferraris, id say 40k at MOST for the turbo build, inlcuding the engine, and I can do the work myself so that helps with alot of the cost
Doing the work all yourself will help A LOT but a brand new crate LS7 with cost around 14k not counting trans or ECU and wire harness. Of Course you could probly get a complete donor drivetrain out of a junker ZO6 with rear end damage. Its still gonna be REALLY expensive.
I just dont think 40k is realistic price unless thats just for the engine, trans and custom Intercooler design.
I will agree that it will cost MUCH less than a Lambo and be faster in a straight line. Handling i dunno.
I would love to see one of these with an LS9... 638 horsepower would put this car firmly in the "supercar/hypercar" realm, at less than half the price.
@rockheadrocks Anything over 500 hp is too much in a GTM - ask anyone who has one. Hp has to match the car and its weight. A 450 Hp GTM can out-drag a ZR1 and deliver 3 second flat 0-60 performance.
@scaryGTM not quite right the car produces more down force than an enzo, koninsegg, and a bugatti... Lemans cars are just as or lighter with twice or tripple the power. They may have make more splitters better traction control and put a little more technology in it putting this cars price reanges into the class i mentioned earlier.
@legendarylt1 The individual dynamics are of less interest to me than the resulting performance curve, and I'm really not comparing the dynamics of the GTM as a road car to Le Mans racers as track cars. Many things may be evaluated, but ultimately power:weight and poise is virtually all that counts. Lotus' Colin Chapman knew that that was a winning formula in competitive racing and nothing has changed. There is no class in a truly competitive sport; just fear and snobbery.
@scaryGTM I wonder if you put in one of the lower hp na engines that comes out of a corvette and used turbos, I know they say there's a lot of mods you would have to make but my point is that the lag would be better than all of that immediate torque for smoother shifting. On battle of the super cars the GT malan which is the GTM had a massive torque and every time tanner shifted the whole car kinda shook violently. Plus it seems like it would help grip on starts since it eases into the powermore
@ryanathan2 The problem is that even an LS1 generates enough power in a GTM - twin turbos should comfortably push an LS1 to 500+ Hp and you're pretty-much back to the same problem. The turbo lag will not implicitly create much of a side-benefit because delivery will still not be subtle enough to prevent an unsettling 'wall' of torque and power, especially when full boost kicks in. It's a nice problem to have to be honest, but 500 Hp is a sensible limit for the GTMs power/weight/technology ratio.

Actually most of the GT40 replicas have the scoop on the upper sides of the body for functionality because of the mid engine. That is the engine air...Of course some people go overboard with extreme wings....
@12hockeybabe21 The giant wings are functional for creating down-force on a car which achieves in excess of 200 Mph, as the GTM does... they are just non-functional on 110 Mph Honda Civics. The GTM's roof scoop functionally draws air to cool the mid-mounted engine, which gets very hot under glass. I'll agree with your comment on the Steppenwolf remix, however.
Haha, ArmedZagi, I 100% agree with you on the wing. My roommate and I had said as much when we first saw the car. Just a little wing connecting the fenders right above the lights and it would look 'complete' to us.
less than a c6 zo6 it uses c5 vette parts and a porsche tranny it uses any LS vette motor the kit is around 20k but you need a donor c5 vette to get the other parts or buy the parts you need from GM and the porsche tranny FFR doesent suply the GM and porsche tranny have to get them seperate but you do get a list of what you need i hope that help ya
I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a kit but I'm stuck between the GTM and the Ultima GTR... How does your GTM handle? is it very responsive on turns, braking ect. I'm sure its a bat out off hell on the 1/4. Very nice vehicle btw. Allot of props to you guys on your own build

there is no way in hell that an LS7 motor can dominate a V12 Mclaren or Enzo. Not in a straight line, not through the cones, and not through a road course. LS7 motors are suggish off the start, with the enzo and Mclaren you can excellerate through the gears smoother faster and more efficiently. there for leaving the LS7 at the starting line while the Enzo and Mclaren wait patiently for it to get to the finish line. Sorry big Money does buy big performance and speed.

i'd have to say the the gtm first its all american has a V8 which is always a plus it cheaper performs as good or better (top speed?) who plans on doing 150 plus anyways, looks... about the same coolness factor
that car would cost more like 50-60k 19k for the kit then u need a c5 corvette for parts then a g50 transaxle then the ls7 13k then paint and body not to mention all the little things alomg the way dont get me wrong i love this car i am planning to build one just it can not be done for 30k no way no how
40k is a pretty good build considering you do most of the work yourself. 30k is lean but I wouldnt be suprised if you could do it for just over 30. 50-60 if you have some one else doing a good chunk of work and feel compelled to beef up the G50 which is not necessary until you go over 575hp....
sheck out the factory five forum i dont know of anyone who has built this car for anywhere near 30k even doing it all yourself and the going price to have one built is 95k and thats with a ls6 not a ls7 there are a lot of things that take a lot of time a nickle and dime you
@narcmindstate Not trying to bust your bubble but it takes more than $30,000. I just orderd my kit and the kit by itself was a little over $25000. Then you still need a donor vette, or the parts from one, plus a transaxle and gearbox from a 911. add the other small parts and you will be at $40,000+. I got lucky and already have a wrecked Z06, well lucky in the fact that my son wasn't injured in the wreck.
The car was instrument tested(atmospheric corrected) 0-60 MPH in 3.0 flat! It actually did 0-60 in 2.8 but the correction factor put it at 3.0. This is with a stock LS7. The results are from Car and Driver testing.
The stock LS6 powered GTM was just tested to 60 in 3.2 seconds. Still faster than an Enzo.
yeah its very impressive car. the stock LS7 puts out 505hp. imagine dropping a Lingenfelter 800hp+ in this thing! it would dominate EVERYTHING! which i would think it would work for this car being as how it fits very well into the vette! a Roush racing motor might work in this thing too! none the less..youd have a supercar for a fraction of the cost! can't beat that! i personally think the car looks better with a wing on it! looks like something straight out of PS3 Need for Speed game! =-)
Check out their website factoryfiveDotcom. They average 0-60 in 3, 0-100 in 6 ... depending on how you build the motor, ect. Still, very fast, very fun, decently cheap project car. Personally I'd go with the Coupe though, just my preference.
This car could cost around 45000 usd, they recomend u put a corvette c5 motor and a g50 transmission witch is around 2500usd and you have an amazing car for very low price, 0-100 in 3 secs!!

When designing a product (I'm a product designer btw) the change of slight angles/shapes/etc makes a big difference. Unfortunately the GTM misses all those and seems too much of a NASCAR (1 piece body) vehicle.
it's 1 piece because it's easy to make from a composite mold. I would think as a real product designer who has experience working with the physical implications of product design field - you would know this :)
I believe someone on the FF messageboards was advertising that he could build one for people for $50k and higher depending on what goodies you wanted.
Sure the GTM is a kit car. But it is certainly no cheap kit. When done correctly your $50,000 investement should sell for at least $80K I would imagine.

You can't. This "Kit" is so much better than any production car if you're looking for a quality platform. It's only junk if you don't know what you're doing during assembly. If you do know, you end up with a car that will waste anything from any assembly line.
so that means ur porsche is faster to 60 than 3.0sec, does 0-100mph in less than 6.6 seconds, and does the quarter mile in less than 11.0 sec @ 132mph.... wow you are a liar and a half, loser!
Turns out the Porshe G50 transaxle needed is not easy to come by..well for anything less than 4 grand. Also it is recommend to change the gearing in the transaxle. Otherwise this is the sickest "kit"? car ever put together.
Transaxles arent cheap, but you can find em if you shop around. Ive got a g50-20 in mine and while it would be nice to have a bit more overdrive in 6th, I find the gear ratios are good for the car.
Is this a stock G50/20? these are supremely hard to get (only 2 on ebay right now and one has a cracked case..which I can get cases for,but still) Heard anything about the use of a G96? After watching this vid...of which there is not enough of, is this the FF staff built "77" plate (license) with the crate L7?

I hope to place an order for the full carbon fiber kit. C5 or C6? all suspension parts will be replaced anyway, stock parts for mock-up.
they recommend a donor C5 for parts. Engines, like the LS7 can come from the C6. Even tho ur gonna use different suspension, theres a bunch of parts you still need from the C5: ECU, Gas tank, fuel pump and lines, door handles, radiator and fan...
A lot of those parts are also available on the after market...radiator,fan,fuel pump. Looked into finding an after market ECU and wiring harness, haven't found one yet. As far as brake and fuel lines, I intend to make my own(easier than you'd think)
ya thats true, good good point! Its a much better route for someone car-smart. Although anyone who builds a kit car should be anyways:) You can tune this thing into your oen monster rather than having a mid-engined corvette in a tuxedo haha
this GTM, believe it or not. is a car you build yourself. they give you a lot of the package, but you put it all togther. acquire the powertrain parts from seperate sources, bolt it and weld it all up. and you have your own little supercar. its suppose to cost less than 60 grand fully assembeled.

Ok sleeves will help but you'll still need stronger con rods, maybe a new crank, ARP head bolts and studs, stronger head gaskets, etc.
All i'm saying is that you better have deeeeeeeeeeeeeep pockets b/c an LS7 that run 25PSI reliably is gonna cost more than some cars.

there is no way in hell that an LS7 motor can dominate a V12 Mclaren or Enzo. Not in a straight line, not through the cones, and not through a road course. LS7 motors are suggish off the start, with the enzo and Mclaren you can excellerate through the gears smoother faster and more efficiently. there for leaving the LS7 at the starting line while the Enzo and Mclaren wait patiently for it to get to the finish line. Sorry big Money does buy big performance and speed.

From certain angles it looks good. To me, the design just doesn't have that finished look. I think the back still needs a lot more work because it really takes away from the rest of the car.

40k is a pretty good build considering you do most of the work yourself. 30k is lean but I wouldnt be suprised if you could do it for just over 30. 50-60 if you have some one else doing a good chunk of work and feel compelled to beef up the G50 which is not necessary until you go over 575hp....

@narcmindstate Not trying to bust your bubble but it takes more than $30,000. I just orderd my kit and the kit by itself was a little over $25000. Then you still need a donor vette, or the parts from one, plus a transaxle and gearbox from a 911. add the other small parts and you will be at $40,000+. I got lucky and already have a wrecked Z06, well lucky in the fact that my son wasn't injured in the wreck.

The car was instrument tested(atmospheric corrected) 0-60 MPH in 3.0 flat! It actually did 0-60 in 2.8 but the correction factor put it at 3.0. This is with a stock LS7. The results are from Car and Driver testing.
The stock LS6 powered GTM was just tested to 60 in 3.2 seconds. Still faster than an Enzo.

yeah its very impressive car. the stock LS7 puts out 505hp. imagine dropping a Lingenfelter 800hp+ in this thing! it would dominate EVERYTHING! which i would think it would work for this car being as how it fits very well into the vette! a Roush racing motor might work in this thing too! none the less..youd have a supercar for a fraction of the cost! can't beat that! i personally think the car looks better with a wing on it! looks like something straight out of PS3 Need for Speed game! =-)

Check out their website factoryfiveDotcom. They average 0-60 in 3, 0-100 in 6 ... depending on how you build the motor, ect. Still, very fast, very fun, decently cheap project car. Personally I'd go with the Coupe though, just my preference.

When designing a product (I'm a product designer btw) the change of slight angles/shapes/etc makes a big difference. Unfortunately the GTM misses all those and seems too much of a NASCAR (1 piece body) vehicle.

Sure the GTM is a kit car. But it is certainly no cheap kit. When done correctly your $50,000 investement should sell for at least $80K I would imagine.

You can't. This "Kit" is so much better than any production car if you're looking for a quality platform. It's only junk if you don't know what you're doing during assembly. If you do know, you end up with a car that will waste anything from any assembly line.

Turns out the Porshe G50 transaxle needed is not easy to come by..well for anything less than 4 grand. Also it is recommend to change the gearing in the transaxle. Otherwise this is the sickest "kit"? car ever put together.

Transaxles arent cheap, but you can find em if you shop around. Ive got a g50-20 in mine and while it would be nice to have a bit more overdrive in 6th, I find the gear ratios are good for the car.

Is this a stock G50/20? these are supremely hard to get (only 2 on ebay right now and one has a cracked case..which I can get cases for,but still) Heard anything about the use of a G96? After watching this vid...of which there is not enough of, is this the FF staff built "77" plate (license) with the crate L7?

I hope to place an order for the full carbon fiber kit. C5 or C6? all suspension parts will be replaced anyway, stock parts for mock-up.

they recommend a donor C5 for parts. Engines, like the LS7 can come from the C6. Even tho ur gonna use different suspension, theres a bunch of parts you still need from the C5: ECU, Gas tank, fuel pump and lines, door handles, radiator and fan...

A lot of those parts are also available on the after market...radiator,fan,fuel pump. Looked into finding an after market ECU and wiring harness, haven't found one yet. As far as brake and fuel lines, I intend to make my own(easier than you'd think)

this GTM, believe it or not. is a car you build yourself. they give you a lot of the package, but you put it all togther. acquire the powertrain parts from seperate sources, bolt it and weld it all up. and you have your own little supercar. its suppose to cost less than 60 grand fully assembeled.
