I really think a lot of you are grasping at straws. He's coming to you in a spirit of love and with the anointing of God in his life. He's saying it's going to offend a lot of people because there are some people who simply will not receive the truth. Even if it's administered in the nicest way possible. But bringing up irrelevant points such as, "You're still not a grown up" aren't helping your argument. Jesus amazed doctors when he was younger than this kid. You weren't forced to view this.
Would you then want a God that will bring you to your knees and then say worship and love me? Or do you like a God with a willing spirit of free will? Jesus Bless!!!!
For the record, he's not making assumptions. He's getting his wisdom from the Bible. What would blow your mind is the fact that the Holy Spirit (yes, an actual supernatural entity) has given him wisdom to interpret. That's why Jesus said to test the spirits. So far, I've not heard one thing that doesn't measure up to the Bible that this kid has tried to teach. I'm having trouble finding what part of that you couldn't possibly understand.
...No, a bunch of old men wrote a book about shit, and fucked it up, you, and him are just naive fools caught up in a large practical joke. This isn't wisdom, this is ignorance. I can't understand how you can be so careless and stupid to take something that literary without evidence. Seriously, wake the fuck up mate.
Didn't grow up?!? You are barley past puberty! You are not educated. You have not experienced the world. You have a LOT of growing up to do before you can start spewing out your rhetoric to people.
So, he should go out there and drink and party and make himself miserable from sin before he comes out and tells you what he knows to be true? The Bible says to study to show thyself approved. It certainly sounds to me like this young man has done his homework. Tell me, have you at least given some thought as to accept Jesus and discover the life for yourself? I mean, it's not like it costs anything. If you have the time to insult this kid, you should have plenty of time to pray. Just saying.
@michael08huff I was a Christian for many years, so I have given more then a thought to accepting Jesus. I will never believe in a god again without physical evidence or reasoned logic, both of which Christianity does not possess. Religion has had a heavy cost on humanity. Millions killed, and even worse, the retardation of humanity's progress.
Then you've forgotten some critical passages regarding faith. "Faith comes by HEARING and hearing by the word of God." Also, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen." We are told to walk by faith, not by sight. Our senses are fallible. God is not. I agree that theocracies have been responsible for millions of deaths. But Christ came to give life. A relationship with Jesus is not to be confused with common religion.
@michael08huff So faith is what cannot be tested, proven, seen or heard? If you have no evidence, why believe in the first place? It makes as much sense as taking the invisible pink unicorn or flying spaghetti monster seriously. Faith comes by hearing, you say? Has God whispered in your ear? He sure hasn't whispered in mine, but then again, I'm not schizophrenic.
Furthermore, the Bible says that He that hath an ear let him hear. If you close your spiritual ears, you won't receive the Word and you won't be able to process it. I don't know who told you that the Bible requires scientific proof when faith is designed to fly in the face of that which is physical and earthbound. Remember, the Bible says to worship the Lord in SPIRIT and in truth. It doesn't say anything about doing it in the lab.
If we believe in things that can't be seen, tested, proven or heard, we begin going down the path of the sentient bomb in Dark Star. How do you know you exist? How do you know that anything else exists? How do you know the Bible exists and was ever written? We cannot go down this path.
For that matter, faith is tested everyday by Satan. He comes to accuse and bring wrath upon God's creation. Only through faith in God can we overcome these attacks. No earthly weapon is proof against the devil. Only the Word of God can destroy the works of the enemy.
Faith is tested by waiting on the Lord for his answers to your prayers because He is setting things in motion for you. When the Bible said faith comes by hearing, it means with spiritual ears directed toward the Bible. Again, you're trying to rationalize what is a spiritual experience into something that comes in a can on a store shelf. Unless you're willing to let go of your prejudice toward things that are spiritual, you'll never experience the truth of God for yourself.
Do you have any evidence to back those claims up? Do people who regularly pray to the Christian God live longer then everybody else? Do they become more successful? Many studies have been conducted, and the answer is a resounding no. Science improves our lives and saves lives, not prayer.
I sure do. It's in the Bible. It says that the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I have a friend in church who ruptured a disk in his neck from an accident on a trampoline. He received prayer that Sunday. He took off his neckbrace and moved his head around and felt no pain whatsoever. It was God who healed him. Who are you to deny any man his well-being simply because you refuse to believe? As for having more than others: "Ye have not because ye ask not." Also in the Bible.
Whatever single instance you can give of miracle prayer has no bearing reality. Christians die at the same rate as everybody else, go bankrupt at the same rate as anybody else and get into fatal car accidents as everybody else. If there is a god, and that is a very big if, it does not interfere in human affairs or lives.
And again you're binding yourself to earthly concepts. Jesus said that his kingdom was not of this world. His resurrection and his promise of our resurrection prove that death has already been defeated. The Bible never denied a bodily death to anyone. In fact, it said that it was appointed to all men to die. Again, you think that Christians are supposed to live lives without hardship. Jesus did say we were in the world but not OF the world. Also, Christians make mistakes which cause these things
The earthly concepts you refer to are collectively called reality. There is no evidence for anything supernatural. Everything in the universe has a naturalistic explanation, there is no reason to assume the occult or supernatural exist.
I'm not denying reality of this world or the supernatural. From what you're telling me you abandoned any hope of the existence of a god of any kind. The Bible says that the carnal mind is at enmity with God. If you place all your hopes with things of the natural world, you're subject to that alone. However, the Bible also tells me that with God ALL things are possible to them that believe. Again, refer to the Bible's definition of faith. The fact that you're so inquisitive shows a conflict.
@michael08huff I abandoned hope, because it is false hope. I abandoned God, because it is a false God (all of them are). If I write a book similar to the Bible, gather a few delusional followers and erase most records proving my average human life, in a few thousand years I could be the next Jesus.
The Bible has already provisioned for this as well. It reads that in the last days there would be many who would come forward and say, "I am Christ." You have primed yourself for acceptance of the antichrist because you've allowed yourself to be deceived. Again, friend, walk by faith and not by sight. This was one of the reasons God warned us about our senses. I'm going to end this now by telling you I'll pray for you and others who are deceived like yourself. You've totally missed the point.
But what made you accept the God of the Bible, and not the God of another text? Each has the same amount of proof as the others. You were indoctrinated and brainwashed as a child. Did you ever think that the Bible talks about false gods because the framers wanted as much power as possible and didn't want people to follow other religions?
@daslade22 Your argument does not make sense because you have a wrong understanding of God. Jesus died on a cross so our sins may be blotted out. No one is guarenteed a tomorrow. God cares about eternity. This present world is reserved for fire and will one day be made new. The Christian who dies goes straight to Heaven to be with the Lord God forever more.
