My guess is that the lights were timed as part of a MIDI sequence, but they could be sound activated, and even with that the cord could be hooking up to the device that performs that function. Wireless and stand-alone are difficult in a setting that complex with that much equipment and stray RF. And in that kind of lighting the cord isn't that noticeable. Better to go with dependable instead of cutting edge, state of the art.

@cyberty62 actually that is not true, the lights are Sound Activated i have a tee-shirt from a shop here in the UK called Cyber-Dog which lightes up and shows how loud the music around you is, the extention calbes are for mic's, lights and speakers.

@metroidsax1 **I know the dress lights are timed(they sync with the screen in background; like at 6:29) I would be willing to bet that is another function of the cord; one for a low voltage power signal for the dress and sync electronicaly with the Large screen on stage background. She doesn't need it for microphone because she steps up and uses the stage mic. There would be no other reason for the cord she is dragging =) ;)

@wearyofallthiscrap to clear up the confusion, the cord is transferring data to the dresses light strips, it would be impossible to sync up the change of the dresses lighting sequence between the verse and chorus sections if it were not plugged into a DMX lighting controller of some sort. I have spoken with Blueman staff about some of their setup. What they do is quite incredible actually :) thanks for posting this vid

Sorry Donna Summer, but Annette Strean positively owns this song. Everything about this performance just comes together and works. The arrangement, lighting, drums, background vocals, and of course the Blue Man Group are great. Annette is just amazing; powerful voice, dynamic control, and a very sexy, albeit campy, presence. The video editing is superb. The whole piece crackles with energy and excitement. This is possibly the perfect music video.

Annette Strean is the name of the vocalist. Venus Hum is the bands name that was joined with the Blue Man Group for this particular concert. Venus Hum members are Kip Kubin, Tony Miracle, and Annette Strean. The two guys the camera pan's to around 2:47 are the other two band members, Kip Kubin and Tony Miracle.

I was also unfamiliar with Venus Hum band members until I seen this video ;)
