Andy came into a dance club I worked at after performing in Portland Maine. He was standing behind me when his agent or promoters demanded he get immediate attention. He was a scruffy, pimpled faced guy with dirty white sneakers on his feet. I asked who he was and couldn't believe it when they said it was Andy Gibb. Then he got on the stage and you would swear it was The Bee Gees. He was great and his crew invited all the club employees to a posh party at a beautiful beach house. He seemed sad.
He died because he went into cardiac arrest and suffered a lack of oxygen with subsequent brain damage after he went septic from a twisted intestine that burst. The condition was congenital but suddenly became symptomatic. He went to the hospital in severe pain and was admitted, but was essentially ignored until his heart failed about 12 hours later, at which time the the surgery took place. But it was too late then. He died from medical neglect. In the VIP ward of all places.

@Browningauto5magnum Mary Hart would have loved it too! I would have loved to kiss my way up those long yummy thighs of hers --- to heavin.. which lies between her thighs DELICIOUS!!
I hate tossers like that, saying he may have lived longer if he didn't permanently use cocaine, is he daft or something? Everybody knows and it even says in the video that he died due to a blockage in the intestines, nothing about using cocaine. So I suggest you fuck off with your stupid comments. R.I.P Maurice x
I wonder why Robin chose to get treated in that hospital, it mustn't have been easy for him to attend that place...but hey, that was Robin's decision I guess...
always missing Andy, Mo & loving Bee Gees forever
I can only hope that they all knew how much peace and love they have given me from their music over the years....I just wanted to say thank you to them for letting me have the pleasure of hearing them sing. Thank You
so agree ... he was the glue that kept the bee gees together the self confessed man on the middle keeping the the group together... Barry and Robys struggle to agree so sad
If they had operated him when he showed up early evening, he would have made it. The doctor had a function to attend and promised to take care of it first thing in the morning and after giving him painkillers & sleeping pills, they put him up with his wife & daughter on the 8 floor which is a recovery floor, so when the intestin poped out and provoked a heart attack, they were not equipped to revive him a few, fatal minutes.
Maurice gibb was as a good man. I good and true friend . I know what a lovely wonderful person he was , too his family and friends .Mo was loved by many, and forever the pain is in there hearts . Mo was not only a Bee Gee but he was a friend to many people .I heard so many good thing about him .MAY HE REST IN PEACE
@jonnyfukyou127u27828 Shows how much you know. He died of a twisted intestine which he had since birth, so before accusing someone of something, get your facts str8.
@opendtuning True, but he was in the hospital for the intestinal problem, not what that idiot said about him being on coke. Just trying to make a point.
@BeeGees78 absolutely and Robin went into hospital too with intestinal problems a few months ago...he is ok now though and it was the same hospital that Andy died in, the John Radcliffe in Oxford...
@coocoomonster7 Yeah, they were very upset because the hospital was negligent during the time Maurice was there. I have my facts straight. They did talk about a lawsuit in the days after Maurice's death, but I don't know if one was ever pursued. I watched every story in the news I could.
@jonnyfukyou127u27828 It was Andy that did Cocaine, and Maurice hit the bottle after his death but he had been clean and sober for 13 years. Robin is a teetotal, vegan.
@jonnyfukyou127u27828 He never did Cocaine, they were open about the drugs they used. None of them did Coke, it was Andy Gibb who did in 1988. He was the youngest, the family went through hell because of it. Andy actually died for a heart condition.
Maurice did have an alcohol problem but had been sober for 13 years at the time of his death. His death was a complete shock.
@jonnyfukyou127u27828 you little werido he didn't put his nose in a bag of coke. the bee gees were never on drugs. so you better stop lying because you are really saying bad notes to maurice gibb. and that is really mean of you freak.
If there ever was a man on earth without a single evil bone in his body, it had to be Maurice Gibb. Of course, all the Gibb brothers are wonderful men, but if you know their history, you know Rob and Barry were little hellions as children, and not much is known about Andy's childhood...but Mo? Mo was the 'goody two shoes' (his own words) He was 'my' Bee Gee and always will be. Love you, Mo. Rest in peace and sing wonderful songs in Heaven with Andy.
@1Witchitait You are right. Maurice was a kind and gentle person, very amicable, I have observed. Andy was the same. Sweet kind and not a single bad thing about him. Both of them were lovely people. So sad they have both gone.......
yes it seems that maurice was the most Intelligent and sortest of all the brothers on the clive anderson show he was more than happy to stay after Robin and barry walked off the show he was still laughing it makes u think what a loss and maybe he could still have been around today had it not been for the twisted intestin
they said he had a heart attack before the surgery, it had nothing to do with the doctors.
I had the same emergency surgery a few years ago, intestinal blockage, caused by scar tissue from another (routine) surgery years earlier. Later, I found out that there's a 37 %death rate...usually because people don't get there in time and the intestine ruptures. I was lucky and got there in time and had a really good surgeon.
How I miss him, what a beautiful, talented man. I know he and Andy are together writing and singing beautiful music in heaven and I look forward to hearing their heavenly music someday. I miss you Mo, you were taken too young.
Seven years ago today i was shocked to hear my beloved Mo joined Andy in heaven. Seven years latter I still love and miss him and still cry. Mo and Andy, we dont say goodby. We will met one day in heaven. RIP dweet Mo and sweet Andy. FOREVER LOVE, Miss Robin
I certainly will attend the concert of Maurice and Andy in Heaven. I like all the guys in BEEGEES. I like the songs "Emotion", "Tragedy"..... ..... Lots of fun up there.
So so sad to the family and to him eventhough he wasn't my fav Bee Gee. I still m very sad to have lost a great legend in the making Maurice Gibbs. I hope the band was a great hit to every one and I' m deeply sorry to the family.
To early to say godbye... He was a great singer.. The all are, It must be proud parents to five such a good sons, and then a big sorrow to must say godbye three already...
I still can't believe it. After this the Bee Gee's went all to Hell. Barry and Robin quit talking to each other. Mo kept them all together. Mo was the peacemaker. I thought he would go first due to his extensive drinking years earlier.
Indeed, he was in by no means poor health at the time of his death and had been sober 13 years; of course the intestine was a birth defect and what happened after that will never be clear.
But Barry will meet Robin in July for some public appearances in the UK and a documentry so they're re connecting.
Mo, we all still miss you so much!
