I saw this movie in a sold-out theater in west Ft. Lauderdale, FL and was moved to tears several times. The message is pure and simple: Let the children play. Here's hoping enough people with the means to donate will do so in order to save the music programs that are being cut or revive those that already have. There is no denying it: music is a part of us all. This is a must-see film. Dudamel, may your dream come true.
Beautiful, uplifting movie! Hard for my daughter to sit through, but would have been a great field trip for older music students. Only 9 people in the entire theater and I am a little embarrassed for PGH which is known for its arts. Young and old could benefit from learning to look outside their box-to see how little others have; yet they never give up at trying to make a difference. Loved seeing where Dudamel grew up and his story of the "pretend orchestra" in front of the lightbox.
Hope this creates the music revolution talked about in the movie needed for young people in U.S. and abroad. It will take one person telling another and slowly we bring this change for all children.
