I can't believe the degree to which people have latched on to such an innocuous sentence. Do these same people giggle whenever they hear the name Dick Cheney? "HuhHuhHuh, he said Dick."

Think about it for a moment , the only thing that keeps politicians close to being honest is the news media acting as watch dogs in Washington, not cheer leaders. News outlets that no longer even make a pretense at being unbiased is one step below a state controlled press like Pravada in the former Soviet Union. Throughout history, the first thing a dictator wants control of is the news outlets. A very dangerous situation.

@logancody05 Right jabs at this, Left at FoxNews. There's little difference in my eyes. The fact that you seem to rally in support of videos like this shows your allegiance. Matthews was expressing that he's impressed by Obama's ability to speak. Clearly his words were chosen poorly being that his critics are so happy to giggle at perceived innuendo. PS most news media is owned by a couple corporations, same that lobby politicians, therein buying up that influence. So about that watchdog?

@sincerelyskeptical As a newsman I'm sure CM has heard speeches by Churchill, JFK, and ML King. I've heard BO, he doesn't even come close to matching the sweepingly majestic beauty of their words. Tingle up his leg indeed. You make a very salient point with the news corps. They're businesses watching the bottom line. If the viewing public makes it clear they want fair coverage they'll get the message. It's interesting that when I insisted on fair coverage you automatically assumed I meant FOX.

@logancody05 My comparison between MSNBC n FOX is meant to be harsh. If you take offense to my assumption that you adhere to FOX ideology, I'll genuinely check my defensive tone. The connection between media, money, and politics is perhaps our common qualm. However, I disagree that public demand for fair coverage will change these networks. Our voice has been too muffled. All it can do is create a market for alternative news sources. Somehow they still struggle to compete in the current system.

@sincerelyskeptical My friend, if you cannot see the danger a biased news media poses to a free democracy then there is not much more I can say to you. I won't even trouble to explain the relevence of my comparison. However, I will ask you to something. Will you please write back to me and let me know what you know about the Sylandra affair, as well as Operation Fast and Furious?

@logancody05 I'm acutely aware of the dangers posed by propaganda machines with a political agenda. I don't know how you reached any other conclusion regarding my understanding. My point was that this video is childish and the comment by CM has no relevance to any policy or real world event or anything. Also, your comparison to MLK, JFK, etc is as if to say that nobody's speaking can be noteworthy unless it's among the best ever. Clearly false.

@logancody05 As for quiz time: I assume you're talking about Solyndra. Haven't read much about it, but I've heard it's a solar company that has received some form of gov't aid, and is going bankrupt. Also heard that they screwed their employees and were paying lobbyists during bankruptcy. I don't know enough about the situation to have a well informed opinion, but I will say that I despise the relationship between corporations, lobbyists, and politicians. Drowns out constituent's influence.

@logancody05 I'd also like to add that I'm in favor of developing alternative, renewable energies. Some are using this Solyndra thing to make the claim that solar isn't viable. I think it's hard to swallow such claims when we compare to our fossil fuel industries which are heavily subsidized.

@logancody05 Fast and furious was the gun sting that went wrong, correct? Border patrol officer was shot with one of their own weapons they'd lost. Do realize, I'm humoring you at this point. You seem to misinterpret my posts and I don't get this sudden change of topic. I'll conclude by saying I appreciate the time you've taken pitting your views against mine. I think we're in agreement about the toxic state of the network news, but I contend that criticisms are more valid if not so petty.

@logancody05 Also, unless CM has criticized Churchill, JFK, or MLK, I don't really grasp the relevance of your comparison. There may be such criticisms by CM, I wouldn't know, but I do doubt it. I stand by the original statement that this was an innocuous sentence. CM's allegiance to the left is clear, but attacks at that connection ought to be more substantial. Ya know, call him on a biased lie or omission. I'm sure it happens. This perceived innuendo stuff is simply childish and irrelevant.
