there is ammo made specicially for this called 'varmint grenades' basically a very high velocity hollowpoint with a little plastic plug in the cavity. ballistic tips... anyway they will actually explode a prarie dog or similar small pest. the high velocity also makes for a very flat trajectory making for easier shooting in such small targets at such long distances. some of these might have been goats...

And they're not goats being shot. They're yellow bellied marmots, rockchucks. Being shot with plastic tipped bullets by Hornady. They all explode things.
