For a better start, you have to set your gears a lot higher. And your 6th on max. Then you'll do 150 on the straight! :D

I have the same thing, I also fly of right after the start there...

My round times are about 38 - 39 seconds

I always thought the reason it's easy to oversteer at the end of the first corner of Brands Hatch was because the road had a "click" at the bottom of the dip and the car instantly turns off the track. Very few games in the late 90s demanded precision driving like this.

No, by far not. At least Test drive 1 (look for it on youtube) already had cockpit view. This was in 1987.
