Ron Paul has been making speeches against the racist nature of the War on Drugs and how it disproportionately targets minority. Furthermore, instead of just giving it lip-service like the liberals do, Dr. Paul has announced that he will end the War on Drugs and pardon all non-violent drug offenders, who are 80% black. A racist would not have held those positions for decades. What does Obama offer? False hope. Dr. Paul is offering literal freedom to those in prison. Not a racist.
During his many decades as a doctor, Dr. Paul treated minorities for free when they could not afford his fees. It was an official policy of his practice. A racist would not have done that.
When Congress voted on using taxpayer money to give Rosa Parks a medal, Ron Paul voted against using taxpayer money. Instead he volunteered to donate his *own* money for the medal and asked other members of Congress to do the same. Congress decided to use taxpayer instead. Essentially, Ron Paul is the only one who was willing to lose his own money to honor Rosa Parks. A racist would not have done that.
Ron Paul said he would pardon all non-violent drug offenders in federal prisons (the only prisons he would have control over) but the states would have to unlock the prisons in their states that they have control over just for non-violent drug offenders of course.

Paul is not a racist for voting against aid to Katrina victims, that's a misconstrued notion. He would have voted no for aid to victims in "white" areas too, that's a libertarian, small government response. As far as the Civil Rights Act, yes, that did make racial tensions worse which was his point by not voting for it.

We've all been told for so long that the Civil Rights Act was the be all end all of a great movement, but the reality is it worsened race relations. There were many local laws being passed that were allowing for transition before the CRA. Paul's opposition has to do with it giving the Fed Gov so much power, not denying blacks any rights. Paul supports MLK, Rosa Parks and the peaceful protests.

@freein2339 He never admitted writing racist comments. He rejects the Civil Rights Act on the grounds that it expanded the roll of the Fed Gov. and made race relations worse. He said repealing the Jim Crow laws would have been sufficient to repairing race relations without furthering the hatrid that ensued by forcing private businesses to be color blind. If you could get past your own anger at whites, you could maybe start to see Paul for who he is rather than his color.

From what I can tell the S&Ls failure was partly do to one of the tax loopholes being closed that drastically reduced the value of real estates a tax write off, also a change in the federal reserve polices. It sounds like a perfect storm of businesses riding on the edge reduction in the value of assets and increased cost of operations. Reagan did not write the Federal budget he closed it down twice trying to keep the budget down.

There were a handful of racist sentences or ideas out of what probably amounted to hundreds of pages, how can one be expected to know everything that's printed? The newsletters were not a full time job for him, he had many writers.His voting record speaks louder than these words not written by him.

Furthermore, instead of just giving it lip-service like the liberals do, Dr. Paul has announced that he will end the War on Drugs and pardon all non-violent drug offenders, who are 80% black. When Congress voted on using taxpayer money to give Rosa Parks a medal, Ron Paul voted against using taxpayer money. Instead he volunteered to donate his *own* money for the medal and asked other members of Congress to do the same. Congress decided to use taxpayer instead. Essentially, Ron Paul is the only one who was willing to lose his own money to honor Rosa Parks. A racist would not have done that.

Paul is not a racist for voting against aid to Katrina victims, that's a misconstrued notion. He would have voted no for aid to victims in "white" areas too, that's a libertarian, small government response. As far as the Civil Rights Act, yes, that did make racial tensions worse which was his point by not voting for it.

We've all been told for so long that the Civil Rights Act was the be all end all of a great movement, but the reality is it worsened race relations. There were many local laws being passed that were allowing for transition before the CRA. Paul's opposition has to do with it giving the Fed Gov so much power, not denying blacks any rights. Paul supports MLK, Rosa Parks and the peaceful protests.

He said repealing the Jim Crow laws would have been sufficient to repairing race relations without furthering the hatrid that ensued by forcing private businesses to be color blind. From what I can tell the S&Ls failure was partly do to one of the tax loopholes being closed that drastically reduced the value of real estates a tax write off, also a change in the federal reserve polices. It sounds like a perfect storm of businesses riding on the edge reduction in the value of assets and increased cost of operations. Reagan did not write the Federal budget he closed it down twice trying to keep the budget down.

@MatheusLegenda He was publisher, not editor, of a newsletter that produced many pages over many years. He contributed some economics based articles as these were economic and investment newsletters. There were a handful of racist sentences or ideas out of what probably amounted to hundreds of pages, how can one be expected to know everything that's printed? The newsletters were not a full time job for him, he had many writers.His voting record speaks louder than these words not written by him.
