I wouldn't even say best at the time... He scores yes, but what kind of defensive impact does he offer? Virtually none, I don't rate players on scoring. I would rate Ovechkin a better player, hell. I'd rate zetterberg and malkin over him. They play very well rounded hockey. About how he is dirty, well... He goes knee to knee on several checks, and they where definitely intentional.
