The Israelis use the fact that they are in a constant state of conflict with their neighbors as justification for their tactics. This is no excuse, but the US can't denounce them because our support is the only stopping the bordering countries from attacking Israel and turning the whole area into a massive cluster-fuck. If Israel falls, we lose our oil, and we can't let that happen.
