watch your arms hon :) but guess who???...NICK! I taped this I think or maybe Jeff did I don't remember! But I like this and I can see room for your German to grow beautifully! I know, I'm 16, I can't talk lol. But I love you and your voice. (you sound almost too bright also) but wonderful!
Hi! I have to say you have a lovely timbre! I too used to sing tenor in high school, and have discovered (to my surprise, as I'm sure you felt!) that I'm a dramatic soprano. This piece is so much fun to perform, and you do it beautifully. In fact, the only thing that could use a little work is your German, it's a bit American. the notes are absolutely beautiful though, and that's what matters! Just curious -- how long have you been studying voice? You have excellent technique!
well thank you! lol...It is quite a surprise when you find a completely different voice coming out of you! i am still working on my german lol...my voice teacher makes fun of it and calls it "suburban german" lol. I have been studying voice since november 2001. thank you again! =D
Hi there! Just a quick suggestion, and I'm not sure who you study with, and I don't want to go against anything your voice teacher may say, but if you take lower breaths (into your lower back and intercostals), you will hit those last notes (and the G) dead on, and with less breaths! It's fun!
yes as a matter of fact i do this is from goethe's faust, she is going crazy in her head about her love for him and everytime she is away from him she is torn apart, she is describing little things and big things about him, it is such a tremendous piece. vocally and emotionally tiring...but absolutely incredible.
Whoops!! Reading my comment for a second time,I have realizesd that it sounds like an insult or something!! Please do not take ot that way!! I am learning this song myself and as I do not speak german i don't know what it means!! But the music is so thrilling that it doesnot matter much!! I was impressed by your performance and thought that maybe you could tell me what it is all about!! That is all!!! No harm intended!!
P.s. I reccommend listening to the Kiri Te Kanawa version of this piece. (i downloaded about 7 different versions of the song lol) Kiri Te Kanawa and Ellie Ameling have absolutely amazing recordings, Renee Fleming i feel takes the piece too fast but is still pretty darn good lol... again Good Luck!
aw you're fine, i totally understand! it is such an exciting piece to learn!! Good luck! =D if you'd like i can send you a link to a really good translation of it! good luck!
thanks for singing this
