  • Hi Phill, Very interesting to see the use of the various bits and pieces to control the reflections. How about shooting a fountain pen? I'm doing one, and its driving me crazy!

  • A watch technically isn't STILL. It's moving. So this would be "TIME LIFE" LOL

  • @4Firearms :) Ahh but I removed the battery :)

  • Hi there, the reflections in the dial area do not look too good, not to forget that light tents, though I do not like them myself, appear to overcome the necessity for so many reflectors. If we take a look at commercial and advertising photographs of watches it will be found that to keep the integrity of the watch detail they are shot with clean lines using a light tent. The art director may want to avoid the matt effect that can be created with a tent on a shiny item. Useful videos! : )

  • @CarlyWaarly Hi Carly, I'm glad to say that we all have different opinions on photography,if not life would be very boring, this video is the result of many years experience on what is required on the European market, I used a watch that had a very flat design and I would probably have been better to use one with a more textured rim, Although I try to choose difficult subjects for the videos .

Thanks for the interesting comment and have a great new year.

  • This is the first of your videos I felt disappointed in. Seeing you place the various bits of card and the effects they produce is more useful educationally than seeing the final set up and breakdown. You do lovely work but that wasn't the point, I don't think.

  • @oceandrew I'm so sorry about that, I will have a second video camera next week that will make this type of video a bit easier. I also try to keep the videos short as a lot of people think they are too long, so in this one I tried to show a technique rather than a final setup to copy as every watch will require a different setup.
