oh surf city, at the cross, thats where i saw billy thorpe and the aztecs, he was a friend of a friend. he went overseas for a long time, he was english. he was my idol.

I had the considerable pleasure of speaking with the good Professor Thorpe briefly in the 1980s. Contrary to conventional wisdom, he seemed humbled and grateful for the ongoing adulation and was most assuredly a gentleman. What better legend to deliver his eulogy than the great Little Pattie, who has amassed quite the impressive legacy in her own right. God bless Billy Thorpe! He is greatly missed.
