what I didnt understand was why they had to stop making it and change the way the monsters looked because they were too scary, but it can show them throwing each other and ripping arms off and putting people in their bodys haha!!! i love it but my gf cried like the whole time cause its just so depressing!...i was just like wtf is going on! and it didn't seem long enough! make another one!

i liked the movie alot. i liked the review, too. im glad that there are some people out there that understand that the movie was based on a children's book too...some people set their expectations really high, and didn't understand why it was so abstract.

beautiful movie. i saw it four times in the theatre. :)

Imagine a ritalin deprived Macaulay Culkin visits an island psych ward on a sugarbuzz, where the patients, dressed up in team mascot suits, forgot to take their medication and whine in Brooklyn accents. Thats about it. Prepare to be extremely bored and annoyed.

dont be so hard on the kid, hes got problems but who doesnt. my friend who has a kid related very much to the film, and what do the accents have to do with it? if hes from brooklyn then thats how they'd talk

Why apologize for "all that happend"? The boy's father is DEAD! His big sister belittles him and his friends nearly KILLED him, SUFFOCATED him! And his mother is drinking wine with an extremely ugly four-eyes, and she ignores his opinion on FROZEN CORN! WEll I"m just saying.

That why it says WILD in the title. Anyways the movie was well done and had good actors. And most people liked it.

Lovely review as always! We all saw this, and all got something out of it... including some blubbered-in tissues, on my part! A great family experience. I can see some of the criticisms, but I am transported beyond them!

i loved this movie :D!!!!!! but that one part freaked me out. and the other freaky part soon after that one. anyone who watched the movie will know what i mean. the mood in the whole theater changed. lol, everyones all *GASP* I liked this movie cuz it was like a kids movie for grown up kids. brings back all the memories of being a kid. the big kids always taking it too far, feeling alone but not too bothered by it, and having your imagination be so strong back then. you know?

Since my friend works at a movie theatre i got to see it

with her at a screening, and let me tell you.

In my opinion Manny, you are very wrong, it was sooo boring! didnt live up to expectations at all. I did read the book when i was younger, but in the movie,

they made the kid look like a brat, and he always wanted to play. Like did you even watch it?

They just tryed to make it epic, but it failed.

I liked the character graphics a bit tho,

id say this is a `fall asleep to`` rental. 2 outa 5.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion :) I'm a Spike Jonze fan, and this was definitely a labor of love between he and Dave Eggers and Maurice Sendak...I normally enjoy this genre, but I didn't give it any more than a 3 because it was uneven...but I still enjoy it visually and you can't discount the director's passion :)

after thinking about what the movie was about, my decision is a little bit different on it.

I think all in all it was decent.

I guess its more grown up then i thought it would be :P

Thanks Manny for another great review. :) I loved that book when I was like 4 or 5 but I honestly haven't read it since then so I kind of forgot what it was about. I'm not sure how they expanded a short kid's book into a 90 min feature film, but it looks visually appealing and is probably a feast of eye candy.
