Toyota FJ Cruiser against the Nissan Xterra

Why didn't you mention the Xterra's price? Going off your video, I priced an Xterra S at $30,500. The FJ (with the equipment you mention) landed just under $37,000. Oh, and you failed to mention the FJ's joke "rear doors". Yeah, 'cause I want to deal with buckling my kids into that thing.

i think they are both awesome. xterra still comes out on top due to the fact that i had to rescue an fj one time ( stuck on a dirt hill . . . lol. but mine is the 2004 4x4 with lsd. so duh. but i mean i like them both. interior, the fj kills our cars. personally i think the interior is supposed to be boring. take a look at wranglers? no sat nav in that lol. there is also a huge blind spot in the fj a pillars, where in the xterra, its no where near this bad.

there are obviously many advantages to a fully loaded FJ ($35,846) when compared to a base model Xterra S (29,755). Compare it to a Xterra Pro-4X (32,515) and I think you will be telling a different storry

FYI Morons, a Part-Time 4WD System helps save fuel and reduces unnecessary wear on the components. Additionally, I'm 6ft & fit fine in my Xterra because I sit in it the proper way, not seat all the way back, one hand on the wheel douchebag style. Your seating position is a lot of fun when you experience a tank-slapper in some snow or off-road. Finally, hey, maybe you missed Car & Driver's 2006 Comparison. Don't recall the FJ being updated since then either...

Nothing like comparing a near base model Xterra to a fully loaded FJ.  Man up and compair the offroad Xterra to your top of the line model. Don't forget to tell how the Xterra has more horsepower and torque. It also has cargo system that allows for interror bike rack, among other things and I don't have to get out of my seat to let my buddies out of the back. My father is 6'3" and has no problem with space and this backed up by several car reviews.

The FJ and the Xterra are great 4x4s in their own.But if you look at the Xterra pro 4x it has a rear locker and 4wheel ABLS so in the xterra pro you have both limited slip and a locker and everyone that spends any real time off road is going to tell you a diff lock is the best way to go. Any way the Fj is a two door and the xterra is a four door.

this video sucks! I have had my 01 xterra for about 7 years now and I will never drive anything else except an Xterra...My xterra is great for off-road but also fully funtions as my daily driver and is a fantastic vehicle...Anyone who has actually driven both vehicles will tell you that the xterra is far better then the FJ...this is just a biased video made by someone who owns a toyota dealership

I have the Xterra pro-4x and it has all the things these guys claims it does not have, sirius xm, can't live without howard 100, it has ipod connector and plus is way less confined that the fj. I test drove that car and could not see anywhere around me. Full of blind spots.

The gay ass "half doors" for the back seat passengers would have been a GIANT PITA. The FJ was crossed off my list within minutes. I have an Xterra. Has full time 4 wheel drive manual switching, Auxillary audio input, XM satellite, and you can get a rear differential connection on the OffRoad version. This video is CLEARLY a Toyota hype propaganda piece. Yes agreed that the Nissan front leg room is cramped for a 6'2 guy that I am. I had a shop customize my seat to go back another 3" for my long legs. Xterra uses regular gas vs FJ premium, And the FJ turning radius is REALLY wide so it's pretty crap in city streets.

fj needs premium fuel. costs way less then the FJ, they show a stock Xterra vs the loaded FJ, Xterra has 4 doors... lol. embarrassing that your friends have to jump in your spacious FJ the same way they would have to get into your two door sedan. I really want luxury on my adventure truck, dont want to get that chrome scuffed. I will give the FJ the more room for the two front seats and that they are far comfier, but at least I dont have to let my buddy in the back first.

Odd comparison and terrible sales job. They didn’t mention the FJ’s passengers in the back are really inconvenienced because the back windows don’t open and the backdoors don’t open independently. They also forgot to mention the lack of visibility inside the FJ. The backdoor on the Xterra lifts up whereas the FJ pulls out which is big issue when it rains.

I wish we could have a review that isn't done by people that are clearly paid by Toyota to favor the fj. Why do they have to lie to make the xterra sound worse then it is. The xterra comes standard with limited slip and you can get an optional stereo and technology pack that gives you steering wheel mounted Bluetooth and stereo control and an auxiliary jack. And performance wise they are almost identical (straight up road race) I wouldn't say one is better then the other they are both good vehi

Nice sales pitch for Toyota but does anyone really want a Toyota sales person telling them which car they should buy when comparing products with other manufacturers? I notice there's no mention here of the terrible visibility issues on the FJ or the lack of four full doors making it difficult to enter the rear seat. And this guy talks about the Xterra being "claustrophobic"? Try sitting in the back seat of an FJ with minimal window space and knowing you can't open the rear doors.
