I have an original 1958 Harmony Stratotone H49 Jupiter. My grandpa had for a very long time and played it alot. I just got the guitar a couple days ago and i plugged it in to the amp and it sounds like an acoustic. Does anyone know why?
I think the model in the video is a reissue. I the neck is not bolted on in the clip. I bought one off Ebay for $650. An original '59 model... love it! Bargains can still be found if you keep searching.
This review needs some help. 1st of all, It's called a Blender Control. The pickups are DeArmond/Rowe Indox gold foil single coils. They have an amazing output for singles and a VERY full sounding. Of important that was left out (and you cannot see well in the vid) is that the H-49 has a very cool SPRUCE top and maple B&S. The whole guitar weighs in at like 3 lbs, so you can wear it all day without back pain. It's very well balanced too. The truss rods aren't very effective.
It's a reissue by harmony themself. Eastwood's equivalents to like Harmony hollowbodies are the RS-1 and RS-2 guitars I think. What's really neat about the Harmony guitars though is that they still use gold foil pickups and with Eastwood I think they're just standard humbuckers. What company do you owe your allegiance to?
It really is a cool guitar...but the spacing of the knobs is really poor, compared to the standard...shall we say...les paul style. They are simply too close to each other. STyle over substance...I'm buying an original tomorrow...though. The Harmony H62 (original) is really something, though. And KAY is making Kelvinator headpieces in resin again!!!!
(for their bass) what's that going to do to the value of my Kay Jazz II?
the MSRP for new ones is US$1199. Used ones in good conditions go for about 1000. A vintage collector's piece in mint condition might go up somewhere near this price ...
Please tell me about the guitar beside you with speed bump pickups!

@Goose22XX Hey mate, i got one to they are truly awesome guitars lots of tone :P
the reason it sounds like an acoustic is because its a hollow body guitar and not a solid body like modern electrics
