Learn to play single notes first then move onto chords, and I recommend using tabs

Just a bit of recording advice.

Pro Tools 9 (Best Recording/Editing/Mixing software available pretty much if not definitely)

Planet Waves Cables (You will not find a better sounding cable in your life)

It sounds amazingly lacking in body. Guitars are all mid, if you're going to cut, do it post, it makes your life a while lot simpler, it's easier to do that rather than recording a scooped sound and trying to put back in what is already not there due to the original recorded sound.
