i keep getting an antenna warning when i transmit. Any idea why? running 2 4ft. antenna

@nukem57 a lot goes into effect when looking at the radios swr, I would suggest buying an external srw meter and checking it, that antenna warning is saying you have a high swr, so I would suggest checking it on another set of meters if its still high let me know if its not high the person who set up your radio did not adjust your settings inside the radio. I think thats set up suppose too be if swr is above a 3 it warns you so you quit keying on it and will not blow it up....................

Why would you mode this radio???. Also the mic that comes with the radio trash it?, i have a turner plus three mic an it kicks ass.

@50suckers ummm you would mod to gain more distance who wouldnt want too mod a 4 watt radio is the question?? i guess if you like not being heard and having crappy ears then i guess leave it stock:( yes i agree most stock mics on the market are trash as for tuner plus three i hate that mic my self i like the old school mics rk-56 for mobile, echo max 2000, sadelta for the base but i guess every one has there own favorites:)

I have this radio and every time I crank my truck up there is an annoying ringing coming through the radio. I have tried everything from noise filters to different power sources to different types of installation. Any thoughts???

I will get a 29 and do mosfet conversion and check for myself on my dosy meter what the output is and I will post it. I dont belive they do 40 watts which is a waste of money anyway. No one is going to notice 1/3 of an s unit gain at 5 miles anyway. thats why I dont do mosfets for people. And 40 watts is too much drive for any amp under 500 watts. It is just turned into heat and harmonics once it goes past the rated input power of the transistor. The meter is going to show big numbers.

One thing that I dont get is why they dont do this style of a 148. This style would be pretty damn badass if it had sideband, not to mention of course 40 upper and lower.

@bluejay148 you know what i seen alot of things taken over this radio im wondering if there is a mod we can do like the 2950's though and have some channels though with out the crystal chip its all done though a processor now like the rci 2950 so in future there might be some mods im not going too destroy one too find out right now lol ill wait a few years down the road when a few people blow theres up experimenting lol

@ElPhantasamo same as the original 29 as far as doing mods ect, echo board tricky since as you see the face is laid out different but same thing for hook up there also you still can stick in front just would look strange i would recommend drilling a whole if you chose too go that way or just setting echo and leave inside the radio mounted with no controls.....7'333's from ohio

@rifleman92345 yes I can but i would not recommend doing that!! do too they draw alot of power and due too this having a display i my self would not run it like that hard too say how long the life span is on that display let alone being a limited edition radio you will not be able too buy the displays from anyone due too they only made 10,000 of these radio's... but thats your choice i can add it if you would like it on there though:) but i think driving this into a external amp alot better
