I had a 79 2-door. I ran a solid cam 355ci w/open headers on the street. It was insane. I would give anything to have her back. Classic iron running a number is BEAST!
Still an Impressive race. Just the fact that you ran a late 70's early 80's caprice classic against a Z06 of any kind is amazing. Tell us a little bit about the engine you utilize in the description though.
@killerwhale187 Motor is a Lunati 400 bored 60 over Trick Flow 2.02 heads w/Trick Flow roller rockers Crowler cam all forged pistons and crank MSD billet dis. MSD digital 6box Headman aluminum coated headers 11.3to1 compression 125 shot of NOS. 700r4 3000 stall Mosler 9inch 3.90 Detroit locker. And heavy as hell wont slip a tire at the track. Hope this helps.
@camirocz sorry this car dose weigh 4350lb. It has a tun of stereo full frame trailer hitch nitros Ford 9inch ect. Plus I have had it on the scale. This is not a stripped down car nothing is stock. Full leather interior 8way power seats the list goes on. Also a big ass Kinetics battery in the trunk also. Thanks for your concern on the weight of my car.
@ASLEEPR1 All i know is stock they weighed 3650 pounds now you added all that shit plus the driver then it is possible.Anyway it is fast for a big car.
@camirocz Not a "big car" 115.9" wheel base. Just a big name to you Camaro guys. F-Body aint no little car, but it has a little name. Unless its a 67-69.
I agree, great start! The big Caprice ate that 'vette UP! Nice car, great run! I learned to drive in my dad's '78 2 door, been after 'just the right one' since.
i can't believe the weight of 4300lb(2150kg/ 2,15 tons)..my sedan weights 3560 lb(1780kg)and gets 4 doors..thats 540lb(370kg)difference, for less car...slap out the bricks of the trunk!
The car is actually 4350lb. four 10"s one 15 four amps big ass Kinetics battery plus nitrous all in the trunk.Oh forgot the full frame trailer hitch. Plus the bigger Ford nine inch. Still only a small block though.
yeah curb weight registered is between 37 and 3900 depending on options from factor. With a driver it puts it around or just over 4k stock. Mine has a 355 i built, GM 12inch rear with 3.55's best ive had is 8.65 at the 1/8th mile which if my mat is right will put me in high 13's, which is still respectable i think for the mild buildup. You cant beat the B-bodys for a mean street car. Besides you can cram 6ppl in it comfrotable and have plenty of room for a slice of pie...
yes it's a 700R4 3500 stall 3.90 Detroit locker. Trans is built to hold more than the amount of H.P. I'm putting out witch is 400 rear wheel which is without the N.O.S
What motor and what power is this car running? 12.08 is a hell of a time for a full size chevy! I'm building my 80 four door with 350BHP as a street sleeper. Wonder what times it will pull, i hope for high 14's.
the vette is a manual, and you don't hear the revs and shifts from it until the Caprice is halfway down the track; the guy in the vette is either sleeping or didn't know how to launch it; 1:16, I can't believe that Caprice would get that much lead over a Z06;
3500lbs? those cars stock had moe like 4200lbs plus whatever he has in te car as weight. Could easily be pushing 4400lbs unless hes cut weight somewhere. 12.08 is respectable in any car.
They're close to 3700lbs curb weight stock, a big block and a stereo might add enough weight to get to the 4300lbs otherwise he needs to stop guessing
wrong, curb weight on my 78 2dr on my registration card is 3900 lbs. Mine is also the landau (sp) so prob adds a few lbs, however with me (226lbs) in the car i pulled onto scales at the local farmers Co-op and he car weighed in just under 4200lbs. So im not guessing, i actually own one and know.
Cool...I love Caprice's since I was a little boy. Maybe cause my dad used to own one and when I first came to the USA, it was a Caprice Classic that I first got in to. He used it as a cab. I find that car soo cool for some wierd reason!! lol
man i love teh aerocoupe caprice...shame it's so rare. It easily is more badass than the trans am, camaro and firebirds of the same year.....i drove an 88 caprice same exact color stock and it makes me proud to see that with work, I will be able to smoke a corvette and spin tires so ridiculously.
Motor is a 413 small block 400 rear wheel h.p. 700R4 trans 3000 stall 3.90 ford 9 inch from Mosler with Detroit locker. Also has a power shot plate system not used on this run.
I fucking love it!!!!

@killerwhale187 "Impressive race?" I don't know about you, but I saw a slaughter !!!
biscaynenick 1 year ago
Was this a fender or sandbag race? I can't imagine a standard Z06 unless pre-LS7, could ever go slower than a 13 second quarter mile.
killerwhale187 1 year ago
@killerwhale187 No was a heads up race.I think he was a little sleepy though.

Uh...the Caprice is not stock. Has a performance camshaft, carb, headers, slicks and gears I would imagine.
Still 12.08 is very respectable from 3500 lbs plus.
