  • this seems like it would only work in chi sao, if it is set up correctly. any other situation and you are chasing hands....my question to you is: why chase his hand when you can chase his head?

  • Bong sao isn't a block and it isn't made to be in that height...So practical it is too difficult to catch the wrist..the wrist is too low to catch it,and also your opponent doesn't let you to catch it!!!

  • @NikosCeLvL1 It all depends on where the wrist is. And there is a bong sao, a gou bong sao, and a daih bong sao. Study your WC terms and look outside of your lineage.

  • @NikosCeLvL1 I have studed 3 different lineages..That's why i said what i said...If your arm is in this height,yes...your opponent can catch your wrist easily..but because bong sao is a helping hand and it is maid to be invisible that's why i am talking about different heights and different positions of the arm!!

  • @NikosCeLvL1 I've studied with 3 direct students of Yip Man and they all had variations of what Yip Man taught. I also studied two non Yip Man lineages. People have different takes on WC. I've been doing WC since 1970 and even learned Cantonese to understand the terms yet I never say someone is doing it wrong. Our guys compete and win. Since they are winning why change?

It's good though to hear comments from my WC brothers. Thank you.

  • @NikosCeLvL1 I am sorry...I meant that the lineages who put the bong sao with the wrist like this, they don't do it to stop the punch like this and also put it lower...When i said wrong i didn't mean that this bong is wrong..I meant that the bong sao lineages do with the wrist like this don't do in that kind of situations...I comment not to offend or something..Just to tell you when this kind of bong sao is used..

  • @NikosCeLvL1 Don't take drills and techniques too literally. The idea here is not to try the wrist lock whenever someone uses bong sao. It's just one of many possible things you could do depending on the situation. That's where Chi Sao really comes into play. You learn how certain techniques feel and you just automatically counterattack. If you face a guy who does a really hard bong sao and is stiff, there's no reason why this couldn't work. It all depends on the situation.

  • I've just started to learn WC. The person in the lock should he flick into a tan. Tried this same scenario with a fellow learner and it worked getting out of it. Thank you for any advice

  • where is Joe sayer now ..?

  • @munkogasuski He's in Melbourne

  • You have enlightened me regarding the forward pointing fingers in bong sau... some teach to point towards center. That is no good. Thank you brother.

  • Thank you for sharing

  • this is the real stuff, none of this fingers open loose wrist nonsense
