so fucking nice...congrats to Kia and Hyundai for gettin their pussies wet their new cars are so fucking top notch they're going to be competing for the top spot soon
No offence but that MPG is crap. We've had 46MPG out of a brand new one here in the UK. It's got a good diesel engine that wants to work hard. When it gets a couple hundred miles the engine will wear in and the MPG will be better.
@dnlcast2 nobody's doing V6's anymore the economy's shitty. fuel economy is all anyone ever cares about anymore who gives a fuck about performance people drive to work and back and to the grocery store this aint the fast and the furious
I have just completed my week's test drive and must agree that advertised fuel economy is just that: "advertised".
Round trip to DC and back was about 27.1. On one occasion I drove without E mode and the average was about the same in both cases.
The Navigation System totally failed in DC, but my cheap $100 Nuvi took me where I wanted to go. In addition, all morning long, on my way between Atlanta and Charlotte, it was a significant glare in Navigation's screen.
Hi! Dan. I like your reviews and find them very useful. However, I'd like to see engine rpm on highest gear at 60 (or 65 which is the most common speed limit on interstate highways). Do you think that it might be useful to have this info?
@Fussinated Thanks for the kind words! Excellent idea ... we're halfway there. The standalone 0-60 MPH acceleration clips may often show cruising RPM after the acceleration run. The vehicle is brought up to speed at wide open throttle (WOT), and we let off after 60 MPH, allowing the transmission to upshift ... you'll see the RPMs drop at that point. The 0-60 run within the reviews is edited more tightly, so it might not be as easy to see the cruising RPMs.
Hey Dan, I was just talking to a rep from Kia yesterday, and she was telling me that the Sportage SX Turbo will be coming out soon. She mentioned that it will be released in Q2 of this year, and info should be available around March 1st.
@godwhomismike They are in the dealerships now but at a very limited supply. Check the dealerships before you go for a test drive. They are really nice and perform live a 6 cylinder.

KIA always rips off the styling from their competitors. Look at their "civic" look alike. The problem is this.....the cars do not behave the same as the true civics and the handling is remarkably less precise. I test drove the Kia and i tested and BOUGHT the civic. Similar design but the civic blows this car away.
FYI, Honda is gonna ditch the hybrid version of the CRZ and will be introducing the sport tuned
version in the line up next year. The hybrid version is LAME...nice design but not a car that was well thought out. The discontinued hybrid edition is in response to very poor sales.
Well I can hardly wait until Kia gets you into a new Optima Dan. I've already test driven one and they're -unbelievable- compared to the old one. I think Kia is the new big car company!
As always, another great review from you, Dan. I was surprised too that you did not meet the EPA numbers, but your explanation explains why that happened. I'm looking forward to the Sorento review too. Happy New Year!
@flatblackstrat It was surprising ... we did just fine with its twin, although in FWD. There are two variables with this one, the first being the windy day when we highway tested ... the second being a different (off-brand) service station. We always try to fill up at the same place, same pump.
Es un modelo BASTANTE precioso pero en cuanto al modelo antiguo sportage pro es mas alto y mas robusto prefiero ese PRO

back up camera infers you need a spare camera, the correct way to describe a rear mounted camera is,reversing camera.

That's actually REALLY bad fuel economy. Here in the UK the petrol 1.6 does 45MPG ish, and the 2ltr does 38MPG. The diesel is where it's at though.

@jonny2k100 Maybe one day they will bring the diesel engine here to the States. Makes perfect sense in a SUV.
mpgomatic 7 months ago
@jonny2k100 A US gallon = 3.79 litres and UK gallon = 4.55 litres so you need to convert US MPG to UK MPG if you want to compare.

Hey Dan, think you can coax Kia into lending you a Sportage SX AWD?
godwhomismike 8 months ago
I've been always a Kia Sportage lover but this one sucks,it's ugly.
I used to hate Sorento cause it was ugly but on the 2011's models i changed my mind.
Well done with the Review Mr.MpgOMatic.

Other than that no complaints.
wojtek1425 10 months ago
@wojtek1425 Was it FWD or AWD? it is on the money if AWD and at speed over 70.
The NAV and its reflection won't be an issue for me, since I won't get that option.
