I'm on a grid served by ~47% coal. I now use a fraction of the electricity of the average user on my grid because of some low cost energy efficiency retrofits and practices, and I run a program that helps utilities develop cost-effective efficiency and renewable energy programming. Luckily some people believe in trying to change a situation while they're still in it - without the belief that things could be different and better, human beings would still be stuck in the stone age.
