The institution of Christianity isn't pretty. I've seen the shadow of the church, so I can't live through the teachings of Christ. But the reason why I am able to stand in a church and not feel self conscious is because I have my own personal power that has come through self-discovery and self-empowerment through my Pagan spirituality. Comment at 1:30 is not entirely true. Basically we reap what we sow. The more that is sowed the more we reap. So if a person goes around having unprotected sex then the chances of that person (gay or straight) has more of a chance to getting a horrible disease, for example AIDS. Now with AIDS being uncureable, God is not going to cure this person because it is the person who made the choice to live that kind of life knowing AIDS is amongst us. We reap what we sow and loves all gay or straight.

The major issue pointed out in this video is the notion of CONSISTENCY, which many people seem to struggle with nowadays. If you believe in God and Jesus and all those B.S. Being a Christian isn't about supporting an "organization." It's about having a relationship with a higher power. I've been a Christian my whole life and just came (mostly) out like a year ago. I'm even out to my pastor and his wife - our church is very supportive of gays just as they are of the straighties. But I find myself in this debate a lot with other Christians, I don't really think from Christian perspective, which should be focused on the new testament, there's anything wrong with homosexuality. Jesus thought that homosexuality was so wrong and heinous that he said absolutely nothing about it during his ministry. Obviously not a priority or much of a sin.

I'm gay and my dad's a Baptist pastor. Where do you think that puts me? My dad accepts me, he doesn't hate me whatsoever, and I'm certain that if the church found out, he might get fired. @backwoodsmods - The thing is that while obviously Gay people stand out, the majority of Gay people are not obvious. You only see a small percentage of LGBTQ people because the rest are closeted (or just don't want to be harassed by bigots).
@Howtopants - Not all Christians are homophobic and bigoted. There are more and more Christian groups who accept LGBTQ people just the way they are - as God made them.

The message of Jesus Christ was tolerance and acceptance - HE reached out to all those who were socially unacceptable in his day (Samaritans, prostitutes, eunuchs, the disabled, etc.) and said they were his neighbors and he loved them. I am a gay Christian However, my Jesus loves me. My God loves me. This Jesus and this God that other christians speak of, I don't know them. They have every right to believe a certain dogma and to interpret the bible the way they understand it to mean. This doesn't make them right. The only one I will allow to judge me is Jesus. The institution of Christianity isn't pretty. I've seen the shadow of the church, so I can't live through the teachings of Christ. But the reason why I am able to stand in a church and not feel self conscious is because I have my own personal power that has come through self-discovery and self-empowerment through my Pagan spirituality. I have my own Flame, and not many Christians do, unfortunately. Oh, AND There are sects of Christianity that permit gay people to be a part of their worship.

Not everybody in church is a bigot. People attend church for spiritual nourishment, not to enforce a political agenda. The political agenda is an accessory and a crutch that people who are ignorant and scared use to justify the belief that their religion "teaches" them, and vice versa.

They, also, filed a brief in the Supreme Court Case that invalidated US sodomy laws. Different gay groups have different tactics to achieve gay rights. No one path is exactly right. What is important is to win full equal gay rights, and not to fight each other and ignore achieving our goals.

Comment at 1:30 is not entirely true. Basically we reap what we sow. The more that is sowed the more we reap. So if a person goes around having unprotected sex then the chances of that person (gay or straight) has more of a chance to getting a horrible disease, for example AIDS. Now with AIDS being uncureable, God is not going to cure this person because it is the person who made the choice to live that kind of life knowing AIDS is amongst us. We reap what we sow and loves all gay or straight.

The major issue pointed out in this video is the notion of CONSISTENCY, which many people seem to struggle with nowadays. If you believe in God and Jesus and all those B.S. (Bible Sermons of course), then yes, you should admit that homosexuality is wrong. If you consider that homosexuality is fine and want to pursue that kind of life, then you have to renounce being christian. The two paths are mutually exclusive.

Being a Christian isn't about supporting an "organization." It's about having a relationship with a higher power. I've been a Christian my whole life and just came (mostly) out like a year ago. I'm even out to my pastor and his wife - our church is very supportive of gays just as they are of the straighties. Generally, Christians are hateful towards people who don't fit their mold...but not all Christians are that way. :)

But I find myself in this debate a lot with other Christians, I don't really think from Christian perspective, which should be focused on the new testament, there's anything wrong with homosexuality. Jesus thought that homosexuality was so wrong and heinous that he said absolutely nothing about it during his ministry. Obviously not a priority or much of a sin.

Gay Christian is not an oxymoron. Most fundamentalist Christians believe that Jesus was a Jew, as in practiced Judaism. He was of Jewish descent but Essene by belief and raised that way. He did not follow the Jewish laws and tried to reform the religion. Leviticus is a false doctrine, written in Babylon by Ezra. Paul had nothing to do with anything and is irrelevant.

U can say you're sorry n ask for forgiveness all u want ..if u dont TRUELY feel sorry for it and regret it ...god won't accept it... Which means ALOT OF US (including me) are going to hell. @Wonglow It's wrong for this ReallyRick guy to pass judgments on Gay Christians, he's just as bad as Rush Limbaugh. Ron Paul supports gay rights and he is a Christian, but his argument is that Christians should not judge gays, his spiritual belief being that only God can. In the Bible, Jesus hung out with the prostitutes and freaks and did not judge them. Once again, Ron Paul leads by example instead of condemning people for their sexual preference.

Break the chains of your Catholic mind-washing and explore the other denominations There are MANY non-Catholic Christian Protestant denominations. They are not all anti-gay. Why does this have more dislikes than likes? I hate bringing up the Dislike-like ratio but this really bugs me. Why are so many people in denial that Gay Christians ARE an oxymoron.
Hell, even living in the modern world and being Christian is an oxymoron, the Bible condemns so many god damn things that practically EVERYONE is a sinner. I'm sick of all this "The Bible is love" bullshit, no it's not.

Not really. The problem with the church is that it doesn't have any faith in God (really, it doesn't) and it proves it every time it officially passes judgment on any group of people. I'm a Christian because I confess Christ as my Savior and because I rely on His Love and Support. But yeah, I can relate to your message. Many people can't see the forest through the trees. Straight Christians (many, but not all) can be very hard on people who are variant in the sexual orientation or gender departments. I just look at it as fear-based. It does take a really strong Faith to stay with Christ through all of this.

I'm gay and my dad's a Baptist pastor. Where do you think that puts me? My dad accepts me, he doesn't hate me whatsoever, and I'm certain that if the church found out, he might get fired. But I know he would fight to the death for me. He's tried for years to open up the minds of most of the conservatives he preaches to. So you have to understand...it's more of the REPUBLICAN Christians you need to watch out for, not ALL CHRISTIANS. It really pisses me off when gays pigeonhole them.

I understand what you're saying, but just like A LOT of people I've observed in the gay community over the years, you seem just as closed-minded and segregated about different beliefs as homophobic people are. Both sides seem to believe you're "out to get the other", and that mindset is what causes most of your problems.
Christianity is a belief, not necessarily in all cases a religion. Just because someone is Christian doesn't automatically mean they hate homosexuals.

@backwoodsmods - Jesus took as a group - all the people condemned by Leviticus and common bigots of his day - and welcomed them into his group of followers. Anyone who has studied the New Testament in depth recognizes this. What "person" was the "good Samaritan"? Jesus was talking about a group of people whom Hebrews of his day hated. He could have just as easily said "the good Gay person" except there was no concept of "gay" or "homosexual" in his day.

The Bible no where says that homosexuality is a sin. Jesus certainly said nothing about it. But bigots use the Bible as a weapon of hate.

The message of Jesus Christ was tolerance and acceptance - HE reached out to all those who were socially unacceptable in his day (Samaritans, prostitutes, eunuchs, the disabled, etc.) and said they were his neighbors and he loved them. It's a shame that so many self-described "Christians" do not follow his example or teachings.

If you cared about the message of Jesus Christ you would learn that the majority of Biblical scholars disagree with you and find nothing against homosexuals in the Bible.
