  • 1:29 petrucci says: wat me bitches you can play this jajajajajaja

  • i dont like the space animations and all that they added to the DVD, otherwise a nice performance from the band

  • Bass solo tape one

  • This is THE masterpiece of the progressive heavy metal.

  • @Ulghart A great song, insane skills.

  • 7:02 - 7:10 *petrucci's dream* "fuck this, is too easy..." *petrucci's dream*

  • im so glad that jordan rudes had his hair cut.

  • who the fuck dislikes this video?!

  • @gassanrzh Justin Biever's fans. LMFAO

  • See they play it perfectly but that dont really have much of...how should i put it... Stage presence or perhaps "groove". Their music is so advanced that they have to focus 100% on playing and that usually makes a band pretty lousy when it comes to the show. But their insane music kinda covers tha part up =)

  • @zaddenasdfg That don't explain Portnoy's awesomeness... How is it then that Portnoy's so Godly on stage? :D

  • @fukkingfokker Coz he is portnoy =) he manages to groove like that coz it simplifies drumming for some =) at least for me =)

  • 0:00ne last time!

  • 4:57

Rudess having fun in the background.

  • i miss portnoy after seing this video xD

  • It should be illegal to play The Dance of Eternity live.

  • Comment removed

  • between @2:50 @3:04 Myung caused a catastrophe somewhere in universe

  • Lyrics by Myung

  • And they all look so happy playing this. :)

The pleasure is just to watch them. Then add the music to it :D :D

  • Jordan Rudess is the magician Merlin

  • Can't get enough of this!!

  • The sound mixer Dream Theater keeps getting really need to be bitchslapped everytime they put Myung's levels down. It pisses me off, because on performances like this one or 'Metropolis, Pt. 1' from Score, he puts his all in this and it's a bitch and a half to hear him.

  • one last time is kinda short

  • This shit's crazy! I know these guys...they're awesome!

  • these guys deserve soooo much more recognition then they get...its really disgraceful that they dont

  • these guys deserve soooo much more recognition then they get...its really disgraceful that they dont

  • Petrucci was definitely not on this night. :(

  • the one who clicks in "I don't like it" is a S.. of a B..... AHAHA

  • 4:04 - 4: 13 Pokemon's Battle Music :P

  • sounds like Yes playing heavy metal...obviously these guys are at a whole different level

  • Jordan Rudess.. WITH HAIR???

  • @WadexRS How to spot a noob DT fan...

  • @lalakekela Maybe a noob, but a DT fan nonetheless.

  • @WadexRS Yup. It's all good.

  • Goodness, how do they remember all that?

  • Rudess with hair kinda looks like Al Yankovic...

  • Rate the guy below me up. Seriously, he will cut his dick!

  • HOW CAN THEY FUCKING PLAY IT PERFECTLY LIVE, HOW IS THAT FUCKING POSSIBLE, ALL THE SOLOS, NOT EVEN ONE NOTE THEY MISSED, ITS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE SERIOUSLY, AND THEY FUCKING PLAYED IT AT HIGHER TEMPO LIVE, I WILL CUT MY DICK

  • @JimInFlames Just imagine that Mike Mangini played this song perfectly with only one week of prepare time. ;D

  • @JimInFlames There is usually a hefty bit of overdubbing that goes on during post-production of a live album. Live at Budokan for example, JR had to mime for the first few minutes due to a technical problem, and they fixed it in post. Also I'm fairly sure it was Live at the Marquee where James LaBrie had to redo poor vocal performance due to a bad chest cold. Portnoy nearly didn't make it through this show as it is!

But still, they are amazing musicians!

  • @JimInFlames Although he didn't mess up, at 2:21 Jordan Rudess did something different, I'm not complaining, I can't even dream of being this good.

  • @JimInFlames thumbs up for cutting dick, pics w timestamp or won't happen

  • @JimInFlames Did you notice that it is Dream Theater? Nothing is imposisble to them :)

  • @JimInFlames Welcome to Dream Theater. I've seen them many times and will see them again in October. They are something I can't put into words. The proficiency is mind-boggling. 1st time I saw them the Dixie Dregs warmed up for them with Steve Morse playing. I was totally blown away and didn't think it could get better, then Dream Theater came out and blew my mind. Incredible players is all I can say.........

  • @JimInFlames it all comes down to sections, or maybe their FUCKIN GODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JimInFlames they do miss notes, or well at least john myung and portnoy did, but not they were not major mistakes. Still great perfromance.

  • @JimInFlames easy man. theyre pros lol and were not worthy

  • @JimInFlames U MAD?

  • @JimInFlames You'd be surprised how easily all the parts are except for the part between 0:00 and 9:59

  • @JimInFlames Dude!! it´s f´in Dream Theater !! I just saw em live with the dramatic tour of events and it´s like u listen to a fuckin cd just loud, live and 100 times more awesome..

  • Hopefully, Portnoy matured as a producer and stopped all these visual effects.

  • what's that sound at 0:05?

  • What a sucky DVD, the aftereffects-guy sure did suck some cocks in his time.

  • omg!!! LaBrie forgot the lyrics of Dance of Eternity D:

  • @jpaulom Dance of Eternity is instrumental

  • @zonic26 ohhhhhh, reaaaalllyyy??? lol

  • @jpaulom Yes, One Last Time is the actual song

  • @zonic26 thank you, Sherlock. you should know sarcasm, though

  • @jpaulom I ain't no Sherlock Holmes, so how shoulld I know sarcasm?

  • @zonic26

you're right... you shouldn't...just sherlock know haha

  • 2:50 John Myung enters god mode! (But with a straight face.)

  • @mitalca35 lol xD

  • this song is very hard to listen to now, i keep expecting the instrumedly transitions haha

  • Sorry, crafteracoustic...I do *so* respect the musicianship in this band, but I just *cannot* get past LaBrie's voice enough to become a die-hard fan. It's just nails on a chalkboard to me. But I could listen to the musicians jam on and on and on..

And what do you mean "just" a bunch of good instrumentalists? That's...really not such a small feat. These dudes rock.

  • @msclvr48 listen to Liquid Tension Experiment if you haven't already, it's basically dream theater without LaBrie. i personally like his voice :)

  • @msclvr48 Okay, with all do respect and in all seriousness, try to understand the difficulty of James Labrie's singing. Try and sing the high notes of "Learning To Live", "Another Day", "Innocence Faded", and the "Octavarium" G5. Give the man credit - he has an EXTREMELY hard job in DT: he has to be able to sing all those notes.

And yes, I do agree that the instrumentalists are amazing, but without LaBrie, there really is NO voice of DT.

  • @trotskyfication id say he fits , the basis being slower wide vibrato takes more skill to master and james has accomplished that, also take into account he had a vocal incident which made his voice weak and less precise

  • @wishlist224 two vocal incidents i believe, one was due to bad technique and the other to food poisoning i think, wow i'm a geek

  • Comment removed

  • oiga pero es que ese Labrie si canta feo!!!!!!!!!! carajo pues claro que para eso se necesita talento!

  • Would just like to mention, if you don't like James singing, then perhaps just listen to Liquid Tension Experiment... IE... the band - James = LTE

  • @evolution200x pretty much.. a more accurate equation would be (DT) - (James LaBrie) - (John Myung) + (another amazing bassist with a sweet 'stach (Tony Levin)) = LTE..

sorry had to over complicate things. lol

  • the fukin 1 who dislike this video, can´t die in piece -_-

  • their fingers are so fast, they make their wife happy everytime haha

  • JOHN PETRUCCI LOOKS LIKE JESUS WITH A GUITAR!!!!! =)

  • @aldencipriano I HAVE NEVER BEEN A JESUS WITH GUITAR... HAHAHA EXPLAIN US. JAJA

  • @aldencipriano but jesus was the son of petrucci, because petrucci IS the god... and chuck norris is his brother..

  • @PeikkoKuningas95 hahaha how iz chuck norris has sumthing to do with progressive metal,.??? hahaha!! good one ryt there bro!! XD

  • @aldencipriano lol :D

  • @aldencipriano mmm john petrucci dont look like jesus.

HE IS JESUS THAT COME TO SAVE US FROM THE DISNEYPOPMUSIC (LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER ETC...)

  • @aldencipriano John Petrucci IS Jesus with a guitar.

  • @nintjosh4 lmao a was just about to say that! but he is

  • @nintjosh4 And he's going to save us. Again.

  • @aldencipriano Are you saying he isn't?

  • @aldencipriano Are you saying he isn't?

  • @aldencipriano de hecho es el dios de la guitarra (god of guitar)

  • @aldencipriano No, if Jesus would pick up a guitar he would look like John Petrucci

  • @aldencipriano jesus looks like john petrucci without a guitarr ¡¡¡¡

  • @aldencipriano He is Jesusu with a guitar =D

  • @aldencipriano Stop with those stupid jokes !!

Anyone who practice a little bit can walk on water and change water to wine, but no one can play like Petrucci :p

  • Most people don't really realize it, but Dance of Eternity is probably one of DT's most complicated songs. If you see the sheet music, you would be amazed at all the crazy time signatures and such in this song. And I think they put every genre of music in this song! Hell, there's even ragtime lol!

  • @ksm375 You mean someone managed to do the impossible and write sheet music for this thing?!

  • Dejavu...this sounds like a comic version of overture xD

  • Scenes from a memory and images and words are their best album!

  • thanks to You Tube ....

  • Drean theater's the dance of eternity makes me so sick to try on drum @_@

  • DT is the perfect fithsome of musicians :D

  • omfg im seeing these guys + iron maiden for the first time ever tomorrow in toronto!!! and again 3 days later in ottawa!!!

  • @forioh how was it?

  • You could break this song in many pieces, expand every one of them till they reach 5 minutes length, then release them as a new awesome prog metal album. They released it as a single song, and that's why DT deserve worship, I mean, human sacrifices to say the least.

  • long live Dream Theater

  • @The61769 fuck thy mom

  • fricken INSANE...

  • Ronaldo!

  • Oh for god's sake!!

Why can't people stop writing offensive Dream comments???

after all, this is a freaking Dream Theater video, and all of their fans comment on them

but if you don't like Dream, then why the hell would you watch this video?!

  • was labrie late? lol.

  • @WAXstudios Yes he was! I was shocked! O.O

  • Chad's solo is pretty elite.

  • @Tractall john's solo i meant, sorry.

  • El q subio esta canción es medio rosca dulce... jejejeje pero la canción es brutal! jajajajaja

  • Okay, enough kids.. stop the fighting. Let just enjoy the ever majestic performance.

  • Genial la de One last time :O

  • James LaBrie's eyebrows are L33T!!

  • They played 'The Dance of Eternity' in Montreal last summer, and it was absolutely mind blowing! I think they played it a little faster than here too. I'm seeing them again this summer in Vancouver (on the Iron Maiden tour), and I'm so psyched!!! WOOT

  • JR, i hate you forever, you are way to good please stop before you become immortal and leave us.

  • 1:30 JP looks like hetfield back in the old days of MoP and Rtl, but is 100000x a better musician

  • . . .yes, they both have long hair. . .

  • has JP become lousier? why?

  • Discussing anything on youtube never gets anywhere.

I also love the section in stream of consciousness 2 mins to about 3.30 probably

    wasn´t ever dissing DT

  • omg rudess, u blowd my mind at 6:29 - 6:32

  • it is very irritating when people start insulting James Labrie as DT singer ... DT existed before him and didn't have a future so they hired a new guy - him..and without him DT would be just a bunch of good instrumentalist, but his voice is so unique and DT trademark now...emotional voice :D Together they stand divided they fall !

  • not to mention they went through 200 tryout singers before they landed on him in 1991. he was so good that the band payed for his plane ticket from Canada to NYC

  • @crafteracoustic man... i was just about to comment the same shit man

La Brie to me is what gives color to DT man...

  • @crafteracoustic dont waste your time and salive... they are so stupids.

  • james labrie is amazing on the cd but sometimes is a bit poor live

  • @54MProductions i agree. i love his studio work a lot more than his live performances

  • @crafteracoustic Yeah they got big with James but man....think about how big they would've got without him holding therm back! Nobody outside of musicians takes them seriously because of such a poor excuse for a front man. This ain't the 80's dude...hair metals dead! (thank God)

  • @Yoferil Do you seriously want Dream Theater to get big? Their status as a cult band was what made them write better music, no record company expected some huge commercial success, they expected a religious cult following, which is what they had, but now everyone on the fucking planet knows who they are.

Okay, so maybe Falling Into Infinity was an exception to not being pressured for a hit, but still.

  • @RaidonSama Well, actually the record label did expect commercial success. That is why they made the band hire Desmond Child for "Falling Into Inifnity". Listen to the "Falling Into Infinity demos" if you want to know what the album should have sounded like if DT had their way. Coincidentally, it is after this album that the label stopped pressuring DT and let them do what they want: and that is when "Scenes From a Memory" came along. Nuff said. ;-)

  • @RaidonSama And the label tried it with the previous 2 albums as well. I just think it's very characteristic that DT's best album were released after the record label let them do what they want. And yes, everybody knows the band now, but that's because they are fabulous musicians and songwriters. So what if everybody knows them? You really think that would influence the way the guys write their music? It's not the fans that make the music, it's the band itself.

  • @crafteracoustic very nice PF quote

  • @crafteracoustic

you still got to admit he's one of the worst live metal singers ;)

I love him in the albums, though

  • @crafteracoustic I THINK JAMES LABRIE IS NOT REALLY TALENTED ON THE VOICE, YES HE HAS A GOOD VOICE, BUT VERY SIMPLE AND NOTHING COMPARETLY TO A GROUP WITH ONE OF THE BESTS IN EACH INSTRUMENT.

STILL A GOOD VOCALIST, AND HE IS THE CHERRY ON THE PIE :D

  • @crafteracoustic Pretty much, yeah. I don't necessarily always like his voice live, but I would NEVER want to see them live with another singer unless it was a guest singer. Now, they need to bring back Mike Portnoy and all is good in the DT world again.

  • @clubuptime Mangini is also great! ..

  • @okan509 you are ridiculous

  • you do know that the the album this song was on was released before Between the buried and me was even a band?? xD

  • i like when john myung puts up his head ;)

    2:58

  • amazing youtube fight

  • besides the great music.. this board has some of the most awesome youtube fights i have yet read through..

  • watching this, I just remembered I have tickets to see them at Wembley! :D - nice feeling.

  • how is this watched just 9400 times???

  • i alone have probably watched it 9400 times lol

  • The Dance of Eternity is my favourite among all DT's songs. I cannot stop banging my head from 1:48, One Last Time is also a nice song, the keyboard line is beautiful. Thank you for uploading!

  • Haha, I agree - the YouTube fights are just wonderful.

  • @KillingThePast wtf is youtube?

  • @KillingThePast

LOL! true that! whoever wins, still they are both retards

  • GREAT

  • MAN Killmysister needs to get laid...

I bet it will reply by saying yes it has, i'm a 'dick' or some other benighted insult as his vocabulary obviously does not exceed curses, i'm a little kid who has no knowledge of DT, i'm immature (which is completely hypocritical), i or another vapid and predictable comment.

I seriously reckon if one of the members of DT read your comments, they'd be ashamed you're one of their 'fans'.

  • lol, being elitist on youtube is pretty worthless, as is talking shit (which i was doing), but if you relate the ability to get sex with talking shit online, then you must have some problems. i love DT, and that has no effect on what i say on a youtube message board. once again, if you make connections like those, then you are just an ignorant fuck

  • I do relate many things to sexual intercourse, as i do have an extremely dirty mind, but as i am not so wrapped within my own ego i can admit to it. I am not from America, and i won't be surprised if you soon make imprudent comments upon my nationality. I feel far prouder to be a 'little teen' compared to a sad, 31 year old man who spends his time insulting other people on youtube pages. I believe that myself, and others have affronted have demonstrated a higher level of maturity.

  • lol, anyone can "act" mature online if they want to prove a point. similarly, you immediately believe that i am 31 years old. i just put that as my first answer because i didnt care what it listed as my age, which is actually 21. so please, the internet is where old white men can pretend to be little boys and girls in order to take advantage of little boys and girls, thus you shouldn't get your panties in a bunch and stay on your high horse. you should be fingering your dad's festering cunt

  • You see, comments like 'you should be fingering your dad's festering cunt' just prove the level of maturity you lack. The only point i am out to prove here, is the irrational, arrogant, patronizing and rude arguments you place foward, all in some ego fueled quest to somehow prove you're better DT fan than everyone else.

  • The fact that he is even into DT, and not all that childish self-sacrifising overrated metal crap like the majority of 15 year olds has got to count for something.

  • how i love the youtube fights

  • now thats funny!

  • the sad thing is, if some band plays this song decently at a talent show, they'll probably lose to someone strumming the guitar and singing along. i know this, cuz this happened to me. i lost while shredding guitar at a UCI talent show. look up Steven Wang UCI on youtube if u want

  • 1:30 = Heaviest Riff Ever.

  • if by heaviest riff ever meaning the easiest riff ever in teh history of the universe, then yea i guess? one chord chugg, even with interesting rhythm, it's still simple as hell. just cuz it's a low note, it deserves props? um iguess? lol

  • What?

    Your a dumb-ass

  • you are stupid because that 1:30 doesn't deserve props compared to the genius of the rest of the song. yea, that part is "heavy", but it's also the just a setup for the rest of the brilliant song. 1:30 does not deserve much talk. understand now boy?

  • What? I'm saying its heavy. You come here acting like a jackass Telling me Im wrong?

Just leave. You don't deserve to listen to Dream Theater.

  • you're not wrong u fucker. i'm saying the whole song is such genius, that it would be stupid to point out 1:30 from the rest of the song. i certainly deserve to listen to DT because i am a fellow progressive guitar god. i compose my own prog pieces that are pretty good. u deserve to listen to madonna

  • I don't need to say anything. I like that part. I played with Petrucci in his early Days at Berkley when I was new there. 1:30 is Significant because Petrucci Would do that when a heavy Riff would take place.

***i certainly deserve to listen to DT because i am a fellow progressive guitar god.***

    Cocky Egoistic Shit.

If you were That good, Why haven't I seen your name on anything?

  • lol it is heavy

but it is the worst part of the song
