  • Sheffield Wednesdays entrance song. MASSIVE tune!

  • The only good thing to come out of the 80s nothing got close and never will!!!!!

  • Simple Minds.Wonderful. Search "someone somewhere in summertime" for one of their stand-out earlier tracks before they conquered the stadiums :)

  • Great talent. Great sound. Prefer them to U2 as well, saying than being from Ireland too. I used to dress somewhat like Jim Kerr for the eighties discos! Or as a Mod with wicklepicker shoes. Those were great days.

  • @NiallatUTube I like U2 and Simple Minds,but you can´t decide,who is better,because it´s diferent music,diferent sound and diferent beat.Both of them,are one of the best bands in the world.The 80 music was,are and will be,the best music times.

  • Buenísimos Simple Minds. Gracias por el vídeo.

  • someone send me this video.. i remember him, dont know what happened to him now, my email was closed and we dont have any communication now, hope his doing well and in good health..

  • when i was a bit younger i tried to be like jim kerr what a singer good toryglen boy

the best by the way i'm a scouser but simple minds are brilliant

  • The minds at there best.

  • pure Rock and Roll, I agree with Hawk44Gent, Brits make it all sound good

  • I was there ! Got tickets from Radio Clyde to be at the making of the video. Fantastic. Simple Minds were outstanding....

  • Love the sense of mania that seems to surround this song.

  • their best song

  • @MegaSpartan72 I think the trio of key tracks from Sparkle in the Rain - Waterfront, Up on the Catwalk, and especially Speed Your Love to Me - all tie for SM's best song! Steve Lillywhite's huge production makes them all EPIC and timeless even today!

  • Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I hear this. they are still excellent live - heard them at Isle of Wight Festival a couple of years ago - FAB!

  • One of THE best tunes of the 80s PERIOD!

  • reminds me of standing on the kop in the 80s

  • Uderrated? They were massive, and probably the biggest 80s band other than U2 in the uk and Europe.

I saw them in Leeds in 1989 - 80000 people paid to be there; hardly a small band.. And they rocked.

  • @twattybollock INDEED..so right...;]

  • @twattybollock :

Yes, I grew up in Europe and was a huge Simple Minds fan growing up. But, then, I moved to the USA and realized how relatively unknown Simple Minds are here. Most people here remember them as a cult band that did "Don't you...." song, but that's all they know them for. Such a shame, though.

  • Well at least we know where Tim Robbins' twin is :-)

  • .... I listened to the 12 inch single over and over...takes me back to my teenage years..all my hopes dreams and desires......................

  • loved simple minds from the 80s and seen them live in our home town (more than once or twice) even in ibrox :( ......still worship this band to this day and always will!!!

  • This rythym was borrowed by Tears for Fears for Everybody Wants to Rule The World

  • @VideoKilledThePanda

    i dont see any resembles

  • @emofit1 other way around..lol

  • other way around...lol

  • @emofit1 Might be true but for the fact that this song was recorded years before Everybody Wants to Rule the World.

  • I always loved this band. They were lyrical and they rocked.

  • the originals! better than the band that copied their sound, aka U2!!!!

  • @dccircuitboy Don't be silly, whatever about their similarities in opinions and outlook U2 never copied Simple Minds's sound

  • awsome music also made 80s movies good

  • Ooooh Jim!

  • Great bass, awesome ethereal keyboards, kickass drums, rythmic vocals, kickass song from the 80's which never got much. Every generation is influenced by the previous. If they weren't I'd hate to see what a bland music world this would be. It's a given people will be influenced by each other, so long as it's not theft of ideas, but influence. Simple Minds are intelligent originators. Sometimes, the most brilliant bands know when to call it quits before overdoing it.

  • @marekgothfather go fk yer self u sad wee wank

  • this song is wonderful. I am 49 years old. I saw them live at werchter. Impressive !.

    Top performance !

  • @marekgothfather WHEN WAS SIMPLE MINDS AT THERE PEAK

    WAS AT 80S LIVE AID

    THEY DONE NOTHING SINCE THEN

    U STUPID TWIT

GROW UP AN FED UP WITH PISH LIKE YOU POSTING GIBBERISH

  • the singer looks like steve irwin, awesome song nonetheless.

  • The bass sequencing at the very beginning of this track is absolute killer. Then it evolves into this massive full throttled anthem.Bought this single back when I was 14 and it rocked my world back in the day -what they did after this was pretty disappointing -but yea, anyways I wish you all a Happy New Year peeps.

  • Wow. Thanks.

Da melody is in yer blood mate!

  • 5 Words :-

u2 are far better than simple minds

  • @chillfmdude , Yes U2 are better but Simple Minds is right up there... Simple Minds is mind blowing...But U2 is U2...although after achtung baby they were never the same except for a few songs here and there.

  • @sfumato1002 are they bollocks better than simple minds u2 might be bigger but certainly not better !!!!!

  • @sweetassugar69 , You are correct...in fact i change my mind..i've been listening to both of these bands for over 20 years...at the time i said U2 was better...well...i was was in my U2 period...now I'm listening to my old Simple Minds CD's again.... wow!! no wonder I felt in love with this band... So much talent... Right now i like Simple Minds better LOL.

  • @sweetassugar69 , just finished listening to "White Hot Day"

  • @sfumato1002 that's all good mate and we go through stages like that ! another 1 you want to see TYPE IN war babies TFI live absolutely nailed live ! respect lets become friends lol

  • growing up in the 80s was a good decade for music ina hole in espcialy in scotland

we had more rock bands than ever before

but now not to many to brag about

as only can think of a few

  • An oldie but a damn fine goodie.....*smiles and nods along* T ~

  • OMG, the best song ever with Pride of U2

  • I agree!

  • Better than U2

  • @ronaldvanderkleij erm how u work that 1 out???

u2 are one of the best bands around the world

out sold more albums that other bands put together

simple minds are scottish like myself

    an have seen them 1

were as i have seen u2 5 times

    work that 1 out

  • @ronaldvanderkleij My arse.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij totally

  • @ronaldvanderkleij everyone is better than u2

  • Wandel mee langs de waterkant en geniet van wegspringde kikkers, wegvliegende reigers en laat de muziek een worden met alles. Zo is het en zo zal het blijven from summertime till summertime, we travell and never stop/

  • 1985 was an memorable year for simple minds, a band that made a significant mark in music history.

  • That looks like the same Gibson 335 that Alex Lifeson has. Funny, I always thought that he had a bit of Alex's style in his own playing in the sense that he is very underrated as a guitarist, and goes for a more spacey, soaring, sonic approach.

  • simple minds lived in the shadow of u2 both fantastic bands but u2 won the race

  • I love the energy of their music!

  • My favourite Simple Minds song!

  • iv seen them live 3 times they are "the dogs bolax"

  • ma mo was in the crowd at the back

  • The best simple minds album is street fightting years by far!!!!!...(just take a look to the album´s track list!!!

  • I love Simple Minds but the sound is fucked on this.

  • saw them at roundhay park leeds..awesome!!..go anywhere on holiday in the 80's and you would hear these guys (dont you)..an anthem to this day..love them!

  • EEEW! Sucked all the moody ambience out - reminds me how Killing Joke ruined 1 of their CDs by 'remastering'. It was better B4!

  • i'm totally agee with grekmex and hawk44gent!

but Simple minds are the most underrated band of that period! and ,in my opinion they 're the best live band(j saw all of them ,u2(12 times) rem, tears for fears, alarm ,depeche mode, and j still love all of them)...but Simple Minds are the best from that era and they're still a great band! the last 2 cd's black and white and graffiti soul are stunning!!

    ciao cheers from italy!

  • "Sparkle In The Rain" is one SM's best works!

  • Alive and Kicking

    4 Ever

  • I was lucky enough to see this tour three nights running at Massey Hall in Toronto, and Mel Gaynor's drumming live was absolutely phenomenal; one of the best features of this great album and tour.

  • u2 , simple minds, tears for fears- and all of the alternative bands of the 80s were part of a movement! A reaction to the Reagan years, and a reflection against the grwoing materialism that was part of life in the yuppie years! Thank God for the Movement!!!

  • One of the Best bands of all time

  • wonderful simple minds !!!!!

  • Kicks ths shit out of U2 - that bunch of one chord hypocrites.

  • the best band to ever come out of scotland...love there music...england.

  • Listen to the majestic, powerful sound of the most underated great band of the 1980s. For me, Simple Minds and Tears For Fears graced us with the most magnificent sound of the Reagan Years. This cut is one of SM's best and one of my most favorite songs ever.

  • aye well said mate :)

  • @Hawk44Gent Speaking of TFF, Roland Orzabal said The Waterfront inspired Everybody Wants to Rule the World. Quite easy because both bands were recording in neighboring studios!

RO was reluctant to record the song but co-writer and producer Chris Hughes opposed. Then RO figured this was just a filler track but CH disagreed. Good thing TFF released it as a single!

  • @Hawk44Gent Tears for Fears actually borrowed this shuffle beat for "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" :)

  • @Hawk44Gent tears for fears borrowed the beat from this song for everybody wants to rule the world.

  • @Hawk44Gent I agree very very underated

  • Great song.

  • Yeah really.

  • do u want an epic song? this is the most epic song ever!!

anyway j love both bands simple minds an u2...j love u2 because of simple minds(j saw 15simple minds gigs and 12 u2 gigs)!

live long and prosper Simple MInds

  • ALWAYS hated U2s sound/music

    ALWAYS loved Simple MInds sound/music

terribly underated 80s uber band :)

  • They are kickass yeah. No reason to hate U2 though.

Seriously why's everybody got to hate on bands!?

  • simple u2 are BORING and sumple meends are fresh and original

  • Bullshit. U2 is classic. Besides, if you like Simple Minds better, then

just stfu and listen. There is no need to fuckin' compare bands!

  • That's true

And i'd rather SM than U2, and i also like U2

  • Simple Minds were/are a very underrated 80's group. They had some great songs.

  • @bigirv2112 yeah I agree there with you man thats because u fuckin 2 robbed them of their success. these guys are the real deal , u2 are just a fake politician band well thats my opinion of them anyhow. Simpleminds were and are still amazin.

  • @garygareth how u work that one then

    u2 r a fake band

  • @chillfmdude u2 ARE A FAKE BAND OK

    WHAT EVER TOSS BAG

GROW UP U SAD FKING IDIOT

  • @bigirv2112 ... they were far from underrated in the 80's ! (U2 & Simple minds were the ones that got people on the dance floor in them days)

  • @bigirv2112 no they were huge filling stadiums it cracks me up when people say they are underrated.
