That's an insane amount of smoke! The most realistic i've ever seen.So whats the setup here? A Seuthe 100 with a 0.6ohm resistor on the positive lead from the motor? Have you had problems with melted chimneys?
hi there love the smoke unit. i hav a hornby tender drive GWR 2800 fitted with a smoke unit. but how and where do u fit this resistor to allow full power to the smoke unit??
Thanks. It's 0.6 ohm resistor and simply wired into one of the motor leads. It gets warm when running so make sure there's enough air space around it.
Hi marbles & Son, thanks for the comment. Most tender locos are easy to add a smoke unit to, but the old Hornby 'tender drive' ones are the easiest. Hunt round for an old, used, Hornby (for about £25) and convert that using a Seuthe 100 unit available from Gaugemaster.
Great idea Steve. I'd suggest some sort of forced draught (e.g. a fan) to make the smoke look like a real exhaust from a diesel, otherwise it'll just 'puff' out. :-)

Thats a great idea - which resistor did you use and how did you do it?

It's fun and the effect is wonderful!
