That looked like battery acid on the engine cover.I have read on Wikipedia that Carpenters were not that reliable. The engines would catch on fire or something faulty like a Ford Pinto.
Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia. Anybody can make stuff up and post it there. My school district had several dozen Carpenter buses and they were extremely reliable. Most of them ran for up to 15 years before being sold. Never had any fires. And if there was an engine fire, that would be more indicative of a problem with the engine manufacturer (in this case, Cummins) and not a problem with the body manufacturer (Carpenter).
The correct pronunciation is come-ins, exactly as it was pronounced in the video. Never in my life have I heard anybody pronounce it in any other way than that. Just for fun, I called Cummins corporate headquarters on the phone and they pronounce it as come-ins.
Is Carpenter available in International?

Could be partially clogged injectors

Might want to run some injector cleaner through it.

For some reason, that Cummins engine sounded like it was not idling right. Might just be me though.
