Just like I always pronounced swage incorrectly. I always prounced the a as short (swa-g vs swA-j), swAging just sounds silly and european....swagging sounds dirty and cooler :)
@gotindrachenhart i'm police officer, and on it's presentation video for HK P2000 they said a lot of times "hecklar und korrrr pii tzzzwaaaayyy tauzannn"
hahahahaha
but unfortunatelly, we still with Taurus PT-940 and Imbel MD-1...
A point, nothing to do with this video, but when you have a multi-part video, would you title your video's with the same name then add a "Part 1 of 5", Part 2 of 5, Part 3 of five etc..."? It would really help those of us that enjoy your expertise, keep track of your multi-part video's.
That hollowpoint has zero effect on drag. You push an air cushion, just the same as a wad cutter or flat point. Granted, a round nose or spire point is slipperier, but, no... that huge hollow point will fly just fine.
@6satan6ist6 just being able to make your own jacketed bullets. It is another skill one can have so when shortages and things like that happen, you can still make a jacketed bullet. It costs me 8.00 per 100 bullets I make. Since swaging, I have not had to buy bullets to load. For me, its saving money.
@daywalker627 oh. i guess that is a good idea beings how the price of ammo is going up like cigarettes lol 8 bucks a pack thats like crack prices. ppl will start sucking dick for cigarettes soon lol
@6satan6ist6 Another thought, This person locally found out what I am doing with these 40 cases. He asked me the other day if I needed some so I said yea how much. He told me he had no use for it and if I could use it, then it is mine, He said he had over a couple thousand. Being I get my lead free, these 40's he is giving me is free, then I get free jacketed bullets. The 8.00 per 100 figure was based on having to buy the 40 brass (3k+) from a friend. More money for smokes LOL...
@daywalker627 LOL thats badass. i dont own any weapons. but i do know that .45 caliber is really expensive, and in a Tommy gun you could waste like $200 in the matter of 2 minutes. lol
@KeeperOfTheOath You can use copper pipe. When my lathe comes in, I am going to work on making a set of jacket making dies to use coper pipe as a jacket. I am not sure about an end cap, you cold gas check then use the copper pipe. You could just leave the base open like factories fmj's as well.
I wouldn't use copper pipe with both ends open (like you'd have to on a JHP made with the swager) due to case slippage, I've had plenty of chances to laugh at my buddies who were shooting their 'special' deer bullets, (dum-dums with the tip cut off,) and had the lead core jump out of the copper jacket, most hollow points jacket wraps around the bottom to prevent that, maybe if you used a torch to fuse the lead to the case it'd hold together...
@KeeperOfTheOath Oh most definatly have to bond the core and case. I would flux the inside of the case then seat the core. Then warm the case core up to bond together. When I make my jacket making dies for copper tubing, the base will be fully closed same pipe, then I will make the tip however different top punches. Hit me up in a pm, I have a picture of a friends jacket making die with made jackets and bullets from copper pipe I can email you if you like....
@dibdevlon I read about these over at cast boolits when I was looking to get into swaging. The idea has been around for years. Just like most things, it had died out. There are numerous calibers you can swage for using different cases for the jackets.
Once you find the right bullet, powder combination, these are accurate. There are a few guys over at cast boolits using these in competition matches..
@huntwithairguns my thoughts exactly. I am ordering the 50 cal sabots from midwayusa and will be swaging these a bit heavier to load into my blackpowder! Hopefully catch it on film once I get everything in. Shoots great out of my 1911, just need to work the load data to for better accruacy. I am sure iraqvetern8888 will have good luck..
@ShawnCFarm yes, there are some other guys doing this for their 40's. I also do this for my 44 magnum as well. I thought I sent some to him for his 44, may have to if I have not yet.
Thumbs up on this vid. Don't know how I got here surfing for Barbie doll outfits and cute kittens but here I is. I shoot solid brass .510 diameter 50BMG loads with 226 grains of IMR 5010. There is less transfer in the barrel than the copper fouling from surplus and Hornady A-Max projectiles. I don't think swaged brass projos will give you barrel problems. Thank you for your military service and for being a Patriot. People like you make me proud to be American.
Thanks Eric. Hope they shoot well for you. I need to work on some different powders myself to increase the accuracy from my handgun. Also just to let ya know, these was bought from CH4D, I can not afford corbins, wish I could, these swage dies run you 129 and some change so it is not a bad price to get you into swaging. Good luck with them!!
@glennwih ouch...you'd think they could hire more people or something. I know at some point James was complaining about the lead time on his Corbin products....geez
Very nice handgun. The bullets are pretty interesting, but I can't see how these can be more accurate then factory bullets. So I can't really see a use for these "bullets". But then again hollowpoints for pistols are downright illegal in Belgium so I can't have any eitherway :P
@pukkepop They are very accurate. Curious as to why you do not see how these can not be? Are you thinking because of the ejector groove still on the case at the head? Believe it or not, that has no affect on it whatsoever. I have seen some great accuracy from other shooters. My problem, I have not found the right load combination for my handgun..
