i think a old, used oil pumps can hold air i seen a statment recently that reminded me about a time long a go. the statment said pack the ---- out the pump with vassaline and it ring's true for me on used pumps's i,e oil change or any mod work . sine i last text i ordered an new pump , as i couldnt find any pic's of oil pump's & when i pulled my pressuer releas spring & couldnt find a bb or piston head on the spring ? savartarge !!! dose any one have link's too pic's of oil pump's diagrames
No the lifters were not changed only cam, springs and push rods. The ticking (clacking) sound is only heard after the motor is at operating temp and only after the motor has pulled to about 4000rpm then come back to idle, never when cold so based on the info I've read at lstech.com I'm starting to think they may have pinched or re-used the oil pump pickup O ring which is causing the oil to foam and not circulate at higher rpm. I'll let you know how it pans out.
Yeah this was constant, whether the car was warm or not. I've had the engine rebuilt since then with roller hydraulic lifters and roller rockers and ticks a little bit before it completely warms up.
I had a similar problem in my old VY Clubsport, and my mate had a ticking engine in his VY SS too, but both didn't have any modifications besides exhaust. I think a bigger cam can increase the audible noise. Did you get your lifters changed when the cam was done?
Hey there, have a VY SS that has a similar tick after doing the cam, valve springs and pushrods although it only happens now and then. On your Senator was the noise constant?
