@LaLarosh94 Because if you don't have shoes that are securely fastened to your feet somehow, they can fall off, particularly on floorless/suspended coasters. Those who are barefoot were probably wearing flip-flops or some other type of loose-fitting shoe, and didn't want to lose them. I don't know why anyone would wear flip-flops to an amusement park; they're not good walk-around-the-park-all-day shoes.

Just make sure they are comfortable at the beginning, so your eyes are irritated for the whole day. Bring some eye solution just in case they get dry though
