I see where you're coming from. Most of these comments are basically worshipping these girls for going down there and spending a few hours with the kids when there are so many more people who actually devote a lot of their free time and money to Corazon de Vida.
Exactly. I was just wonder how many of them WILL (not SAY they WOULD) go down there on their own; without even telling anyone they went (let alone broadcast their "good deed" on the internet). Doing your "Good Works" before men is easy...instant reward!
I guess this could encourage people to go down there and help the kids out but I don't get why everyone is so amazed by this "great act of kindness". It's great that they did this but there are so many people who get no recognition for the amazing things that they do but these models went there once and everyone is ready to kiss their feet.
Do you really think any ONE of them would have thought to do this on their own? Let ALONE do it? This was a trip planned by the Agency... to further their own cause. The ONLY good that will come of it is that some of these girls may have been touched and/or reminded of what's important. Oh... and maybe the kids had a good time for a day. But see who's the primary focus of each shot?: The Models.
I volunteer a lot and help administrate an african aid organization. I do it because I want to help, but I've found the reality of volunteer work is that you always get back more then you can possible give.
On the fundraising side this kind of thing is great for an organization like Corazon de Vida especially if it brings in money or interest. We use celebrities at our fund raisers to bring people in. The bottom line I don't care why people give just that they do.
I agree totally with you. Obviously, some people are upset because this is a photo-op, as well as a chance to give back for these girls, but really, as you said, as long as they do it, who cares why they do it? There are many people who dont get recognition for doing this--true. But there are also people who ALMOST give, but they don't. How about those people? I admire anybody who gives their time.

Why all the video and still cameras? It was so they could go home and show the pics and post the videos and say, "Look what I/WE did!" I know people that make the same trip a few time ANNUALLY. They don't bring back videos and pictures to show.

Corazon De Vida. If it wasn't for this video I wouldn't know about them and if they didn't want to do it they wouldn't have ben involved.
And to be honest a photo-op, its on Youtube with 2,000 views whoopie, bet that will launch a few careers.
