Galangal is considered a medicinal herb in Asian countries but after 30 minutes of research sparked by your question I have yet to find any record of toxicity when raw or cooked...

This soap is next on my to do list. Mabye i will make a batch with bells cuz i live with many cowards... Also that garnish idea, you might try amazon and get a garnish book. Edible garnishes are just a must.

Went to an oriental market wish i could understand what they say but oh well. Reminds me of old kids song lions and tigers and bears oh my. This was like turtles and frogs and omg whats that ohh my. nothing like 40 frogs shoved into a small fish tank.. Weird how they kill frog and just use the legs. Im tempted to try it bring it to pokers night. saute on low i read with some oil.. I think i will use garam masala and a few other spies and marinate them a little. hope they allow me to come back!

why garnish with unedible? the galangal is toxic when not cooked? curious... pretty much dont eat the lemon grass?

@007majorgonzo The Galangal and lemon grass can be eaten if you like, but they are tough and not pleasant to chew. These, plus the hot peppers add flavour to the soup and do not need to be ingested. Yes, the garnish is there to improve presentation -- most people love it this way. Thanks for taking time to comment, I appreciate your interest.
