lol reminds me of how i used to live in Illinois and when they would test the tornado siren its was creapy and it would scare my dog so much she would hide in the trash can
LOL ikr! same here the would make us do it at school and do the whole prosedure and everybody would panic and i`d be like YEA A TORNADO!! BRING OUT THE POPCORN!!! LOL
you shouldnt. we're supposed to have great weather till october. anyways, our weather can be a tornado outbreck one week and the next a blizzard comes through. its life in illinois. so dont worry a bit! :-)
i live in Illinois, the tornado sirens go off like 20 times a month in the summer, most people dont take shelter anymore because they get used to it but my mom still makes us go to the basement just in case
for some reason, it always seems in illinois they set the sirens off for no reason. so now i see, some times they make sense. they set the sirens off just for a severe thunderstorm.
That was a well-shot video and some well-detailed footage of the funnel. It's pretty amazing how funnels never quite touch the ground but seem to whip up the air currents close to the ground.
Personally, I'd be listening to some harder-edge music while chasing, but that's just me.
I have always pondered whether the automated voice warnings are taken as seriously as a live warning. From the psychological aspect, I mean. It would be interesting to study.
Wtf why am I rated a -1 for being right? Search "Spin Doctors Pretty Baby" and see what I mean. The song has another name, called Del Amitri- Roll to me
Nice video dude and i totally agree with the other dude, cause I live in Illinois also and this doesn't happen that much, my house got hit yesterday, in harvord
I remember that day. I was on the way to tennis with my mom and it was pitch black with really bad winds and the radio just stopped and issued the warning. I was freaking out.
I wonder how people record it. I mean you drove a car just to see the tornado, i mean, wouldn't there be high winds in that area? How did you survive it though?
Great video. It's nice to see a video shot by someone who knows how to use a camera properly. I get so tired of zoom-in, zoom-out, zoom-in, zoom-out, shake, shake, shake, zoom-in, zoom-out....
This video puts the vast majority of other tornado videos to shame. Thanks again.
Excellant video, stormchaser64! I remember it well. I'm from Charleston, & I was listening to the storm chasers on my scanner that day. And like a couple of the others said, I'm glad you kept the audio original. I get real tired of people taking great video captures & adding some crappy music to them, to make them more like a dang movie. Thanks for the great video, keep up the great work, & be safe out there! PS: I like the good throw ins, like "smart trucker". lol Take Care!
nah music isnt important, the weather update/warning was cool and sound quality was good. leave everything just as it is. nothing i hate worse than videos where the soundtrack is the focal point. ya did good thanks for the upload
i dont ever comment on videos, but i love twisters and the you documented this was great, you didnt make it to mellow dramatic, u kept it simple and it was great, im english and so twisters are a rarity. so the best i get to seeing funnel touch down is by videos like this. great work
I knew those songs were a little cheesy, but I wanted to keep the original audio intact for the tornado warnings on the local radio station I was listening to during the chase. Sure, I could have added better music to the background and have the scenes match up to the drumbeat and all that, (or remove the audio altogether), but I was trying to make it look like a training or educational video of sorts. Cheers!
you video had detailed information the base concept that you used a decent program which i will be researching when i am done with this video and detailed precisely. the note glocktoday made about the music is a bit..lacking. good job. are you a registered spotter?
Sir you are to be commended for a fantastic video shoot! As fine a text book example of the formation of a tornado as you'll see. Leaving the radio broadcast in was a great idea. The warning went out quickly. I know that area down there is mainly rural, but there is the ocassional farm house, as well as barns, trees, windmills as we can see. Sensational clip!
man. that tornado was SLOW. it like sat over that house and trees for what seemed like FOREVER..
