I work with the Humboldt Park Anti-gentrification organization and have visited El Barrio to talk to people on action taken against this....I'm headed back to NYC this summer and would LOVE to meet up with more organizations to create more connections between cities in America who are facing the same thing!
I live in Chicago and actually just moved to the SW Side as my native neighborhood, Pilsen (Chicago's largest Latino neighborhood) is being heavily gentrified at such a quick pace, we simply could not afford to live there. Its insulting that NOW that neighborhood is considered habitable and that people are in love with the Mexican culture in the neighborhood when we were shunned since the white flight of the 1950's, they love the culture so much but are driving those who make t
