  • The DoD (Department of Defence) is the American version of our MoD (Ministry of Defence).

It's basically saying that the leverl of deletion you're using is equivalent the that of what the DoD use.

  • Will eraser completely gt rid of annoying so called 'security softwares' that force their way onto your computer? -.- I got one downloading music and it wont go away.

  • dose this work for vista???!!!

  • if you cut and paste, does the file still become recoverable?

  • when you completely wipe out a hard drive is windows still on the computer?

  • hey, i burned it into a disk, and when i put it in the cd drive, it doesnt load. Do you need to like do something or is it 64 bit or32 bit. ?

  • DOD = department of defence ;)

  • DOD = department of defence ;)

  • hi the DBAN link is 404 , any one else getting this? thanks

  • compuTAH

  • I what to know how to delete the files that where already removed from my recycle bin!

  • Simply Clear the Recycle bin, then fill the entire C: Drive with Music and Video files or just crappy software!

    Now delete all these files!

Overwriting your data with a file shredder can be a problem if you go to Court but if you fill the drive with junk files and then delete them, it can be argued that you were just using C: drive for temp storage space as you moved things around!

C: drive should be no greater than 16GB if speed is of the essence!

  • Huh?

  • just low level format the drive and be done with it!!!!

  • File Shredder= 3 problems.

    1. Does not overwrite properly

    2. Does not change deleted file name

    3. The algorithm that was use to overwrite any file can be seen by many recovery tools in the deleted files property. lol oopsy

    Eraser= No problem

    1. Changes the file names after deletion.

    2. Overwrites properly, it gets the job done.

    3. WTH did my files go?? My recovery tools can't find them. Deep scan fail??? GOOD! :)

I recommend Eraser over File Shredder.

  • Thanks for the info

  • superb.... i love the options in file shredder. Thanks!

  • Best video, im having troubles using Dban. I saved Dban to cdr, then downloaded free ISO express burn. How do i use the disc now? Do i start computer then press F5, cdrom

  • DOD = Department of Defence!

  • What about erasing index.dat files with eraser? I have it but it doesn't say how to do it

  • ty!

  • ccleaner, it has a feature called wipe free space, it makes a massive temporay file that takes up all ur hardrives free space, and then securley deletes it

  • Sorry I said Encare, it's Encase, which is made by Guidance Software. They can do it, trust me. I don't care how many times that thing is wiped.

  • Speaking of CyberScrub, East-Tec is just as good. In fact it's the same damn program. I think it might be $10 less.

What someone said earlier might be correct though. The only true way of keeping your hard drive private is to break it and burn it.

They have tools capable of putting things back together, believe me. The company Encare, makes software that can recover certain documents.

  • what about CyberScrub Privacy Suite it does the same as eraser

  • There are several issues with data shredders, Disk overwriting programs that cannot access the entire hard drive, including hidden/locked areas like the Host Protected Area (HPA), Device Configuration Overlay (DCO), and remapped sectors.

  • he has a folder ''porn'' LOL!

  • you have to use then in the correct way as there are shdow files to its not as simple as just writing over ther file with numbers you can still get the files back.

  • The only way to make 100% sure your HDD is formmated is by smashing the HDD, no joke.

  • all a disk defrag does it put all the linked sectors together, and gather up the free sectors making it easier to find files, thus taking less time for the HD to read.

  • About how long does it take for a computer to overwrite a deleted file?

  • can you recover photos if you've overwritten them? Like three years ago? I see people on tv pulling files off a pc. That they thought they had cleaned off with disk cleaner and stuff.

  • that word lol

  • This is ver interesting and helpful, but once you have deleted files (before you get these programs)is there anything out there that can interrogate your freespace, ie where all the already deleted stuff is, display it and give you the option of shredding all what you have already deleted?

Or am I dreaming of something impossible.

In fact what would you reccomend to recover all files that have been deleted?

  • cyberscrub is all 3 in one, its a great program.

  • Department of Defense(U.S.)=DOD

  • how much are they? and are they visible on your computer?

  • did you say you could download these programs to a USB drive? how?

  • hi do u no how to mess up with files that youve already deleted in the recycle bin cheers

  • Would eraser help my computer run faster?

  • are you retarded? It WIPES your hard drive.XP will be deleted. Just a blank hard drive. File shredder and Eraser just deletes files one at a time. how is that going to make your computer faster?

  • I'm talking about erasing the unused space.

  • o man NO the porn folder...

  • I cringed watching that disappear...

  • Day of Defeat

  • does this take space from your computer?

every time I use this, will I lose space on my pc?

  • hell yea

  • hey thanx man!!!!!!!

i can finally delete all the things I want forever.

  • could i get ure background???

  • it doesnt work with vista

  • why would you WANT to erase the porn folder!?!

  • stream it instead :D

  • @bijanshadnia lol porn

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this mate.

  • does the boot version fit on a floppy? Can I execute it straight from windows, If i needed to do it in a hurry?

    Thanks :)
