@matrixandraia The Pow armor looks like the evil version of the R-9. The Force looks more like a backpack when put on the back o.O and its just the same version force, only different stuff.
@ScorpianViper The POW Armor is basically an upgraded R9. Still, I like to joke about it. The blue weapon is an absolute godsend if you have walls to bounce the beams off of. The blue weapon is basically my favorite on the R9/POW Armor.
My take (based on Delta and Final's last stages): the Bydo are trying to become more like us, their parents. They're still our enemy. Evil, or just our misguided, wayward children?
I think not. Command explains that only the Human versions of Bydo were like lost children. The first generation Bydo were deadly weapons. When we realized that, we tried to prevent them from killing us. Not exactly like kids.
But the SECOND generation, after we began attacking, were converted humans. They did not notice their assimilation, and tried to travel back to earth (Home). The others did not realize this, and got in their way. So they started killing us. Watch my video on the subject.
...Besides, the first bydo was the player in Final, so they shared our genetic makeup from the start. So they were already like their parents, just twisted.
I sort of agree, but the Bydo in Delta were just plain Bydo. I know they started out as a weapon in the 26th century. But even as a weapon (before we learned in Final about humans being turned) they were becoming like us, hence Delta's final boss. I don't know, I have my view. I love R-Types story. Pay attention or don't, the game is still excellent.
True, true. I guess we all have our views, but it just angers me how there are no support powerups, etc. If the humans had all of those ships waiting for you, couldn't they have owned the entire first/3rd level for you? I guess that would take away from the SS principle though, so nevermind.
The point of the game is for YOU to do all that. It would make sense for a normal/military standpoint to do that, but you got to look at it like a Rail shooter with 1 player to do it. Hence why nothing happened.
I assume the site is down, and there is no R-type wiki with all this listed.
Exactly what was the end result of Final? I know the Pilot goes back in time, but he's now Bydo, does he die or something? I hope I can find Final sometime soon :(
In stage 6.2 in Final the pilot gets Bydo-fied and stage F-B has you playing as Bydo System Alpha, a ship you see go flying by (from right to left) at the beginning in the background of stage 1.0.
Ok, F-A you destroy a Bydo Core, and F-B has you become a Bydo fighter, what is the part of F-C? I see you go through time travel but it doesn't feel it.
F-C is a bonus stage. It has nothing to do with the story at all. So F-A and B are the only real endings. 3.5 is also a nice little cross-over from Delta, even if it is riddled with bugs and glitches.
A: The 'explosion' of the komblier at the end of Tactics actually was an explosion, and he is now dead.
OR
B: The 'explosion' was a desynch drive activation, and he is now wandering the universe in search of a planet/species suitable for coexistance, or is heading back to the Bydo homeworld.
Lol yeah. I would go with option A, due to the fact that he suffered a direct hit (or a HEADSHOT) to the upper left engine, and that would also contain part of the Komblier's systems, which should be enough to kill it. Not to mention that the Gunnangap Cannon has 270+ attack power, more than the Utarga Loki.
It's not a headshot, it's an armshot, Kombiler even managed to walk it off and float to look back, then run.
I took a direct hit to the core with an Ace Kombiler from Nifleheim and survived, and it scared me shitless when I saw her emerge from the fog and pop off a bowgunround. Thank god I was using Bermate as the flagship.
Actually any part of the Komblier above/near the Fragarach is the head, hence the two green, rectangular 'eyes' in front of the engines.
Anyways, Irem kind of screwed up the damage system. The Loki should have >500 power. Once I used it on both Boldos at the same time on the Utarga Loki mission and both survived. It just proves that the Niflheim is not the 'ultimate dreadnought' they claim it to be.
@incinerator950 - I would guess it may be dead. The sequel to R-Type Tactics (R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate) is where people choose to either fight with Bydo technology (like Force modules) or go against it (the ships vary for both).
Or maybe a plot twist where he comes back, more powerful than ever after both stories are completed...
Once again, FC has nothing to do with the story. F-A is the assumed ending. You have to expect the rest happened, its the only story that really fits.
It just occurred to me that in this stage your are shooting giant, space babies. EVIL, giant, space babies; but still a little disturbing. You got mad skillz Matrix, btw.
I dunno (for Delta.) But you can get this and its predecessors and ancestors on R-Type Final (just PM me for the master ship list, cuz I know where to get it)

how/when did the first bydo become the player?
Wouldn't that have turned everything into a giant loophole and circle?
incinerator950 2 years ago
It was listed in the official R-Type FINAL site, combined with knowledge from the messages from FINAL in-game.

Ah.
I wonder what happened to the Bydo Commander from Tactics
incinerator950 2 years ago
There are two possible scenarios:
A: The 'explosion' of the komblier at the end of Tactics actually was an explosion, and he is now dead.
OR
B: The 'explosion' was a desynch drive activation, and he is now wandering the universe in search of a planet/species suitable for coexistance, or is heading back to the Bydo homeworld.

They don't mention anything on the site, but I'm one to blurt out they should not use a pretty sparkly firework show for a desynch Drive.

Even so, the Thruster was smoking, and then was still working.
Yes, Loki was not powerful enough.
