  • why can't I buy it on ITunes????

  • I wonder if there is any chance of getting Christina into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2006?

  • This gets stuck in my head all the time. Great show, such a cheesy song.

  • i rememeber watching this!!

  • My grandmother had the Flambards sound-track album on LP, and I used to play this song so often, (I had a major crush on the woman on the front of the cover). This brings back memories! Thing is, I'm only 36, so would have been very young at the time.

  • my name is christina

  • such a great song, along with milk crisis off sesame street.

  • Dear me.... I was 7 years old when this was first shown, am 39 now! Can still remember this theme tune 32 years later.... Where did all those years go!?!

  • My dad (RIP) used to sing this with a posh voice, doing the pose of a serious Victorian tenor standing next to a piano, just for fun.

Love it - thank you so much !!!

  • Rip nick cutis, a great voice.

  • its an amazing song i want morrissey to sing it

  • The house used for the exteriors and opening credits was Sawley Hall, Near Harrogate, yorkshire.

  • The TV series was much loved in my native Zimbabwe in the 80s, and I have never forgotten that song. As a boy, watching this with the family, I never imagined that I would make Yorkshire my home!

  • "I will sing you a song of Christina, Christina, of Christina.

I'll sing you a song of Christina at Flambards.

"I'll sing you no ballads of rose-garden ladies,

    Watering flowers in parallel rows;

Instead let me sing you a song of Christina

Who makes her own music wherever she goes.

  • I'll sing you a song of Christina, Christina, of Christina.

I'll sing you a song of Christina at Flambards.

"I'll sing you no sonnets of drawing-room ladies

    Dipping dry biscuits in unsweetened tea;

Instead I'll show you a girl who walks boldly,

Tough as a diamond, laughing and free.

"I'll sing you a song of Christina, Christina, of Christina.

I'll sing you a song of Christina at Flambards

  • You will not find her kissing the hem of your garment However you beckon and call.

She'll more likely share you red wine and rude stories

In the wee small hours after the ball.

"I'll chant you no anthems of sweet-smelling ladies

    Uttering small talk at vicarage teas;

Instead I'll sing of a smiling survivor

Who's been through the wood and the trees.

  • I'll sing you a song of Christina, Christina, of Christina.

I'll sing you a song of Christina at Flambards.

I'll sing you a song of Christina, Christina, of Christina.

I'll sing you a song of Christina at Flambards."

  • The series was shot at sawley hall house in yorkshire, 1978/9, hope this helps, have a good day.oktobercat........

  • I LOVE this song! I just watched it on my vcr the other day. :) I must say though that she was NEVER rude!! :) Always a lady!

  • garej thanks from Lima Peru for the video. I saw the series in local TV in 1978. I love the song of Christina. Please, could you write the lyrics of this song?

    Thanks again.

  • I had the orginal sound track to this, and of course watched all the episodes

  • que buena serie.

  • This was a classic series, and a big part of its success was its extraordinarily brilliant and original music.

  • Christina is such a pretty pretty name

  • I named my daughter Christina after this show. :)

  • @flybreath Aww thanks lol. Ill let you know when Ive seen it - cant wait lol

  • @flybreath, yes according to the imbd website, he has been in a number of different things. His latest roles include Scooter: Secret agent (never heard of it myself) in 2005 and Scooby Doo in 2002 as well as King Zad in Beastmaster :)

  • @flybreath really? I never knew and i havent seen any of the actors in anything recently apart from Alan Parnaby in a few episodes of Casualty and Sebastian Abineri as the coach driver in Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes"

  • @flybreath seriously ... when?

  • Blimey, those lowcost airlines really are no-frills aren't they?

  • This is great.we read the book in class, for English)and i read ahead and read the rest of the seeries and LOVED it!

Then just absent mindingly typing "Flambards" into google, i never knew it was available on dvd as well!so i ordered them from the internet and watched the 11hrs of video on new years eve when they arrived! It was fab, and i cant believe why so many people havent heard or watched this captivating set of episodes which are still great around 30 yrs after they were 1st shown on tv!

  • @flybreath Lol, was he in a whisky advert? I never knew!! :)

But I definatly know Edward Judd (Uncle Russell) who died earlier last year was in a traffic ad

  • This was originally on Sunday afternoons on LWT. The theme music always used to creep me out and get me hooked.

I guess the slot moved to Friday nights?

  • @englishbobuk Nope, the original showing was 9pm Fridays, the repeats were Sunday afternoons in 1981 up against Match of the Day! I never saw any football that season, I was totally in love with Christina! :-)

  • It was shown on Friday nights between 9-10pm. For years this was ITV's regular Friday night drama slot, which premiered such quality as bouquet of barbed wire, Within these walls, and auf wiedersehen pet.

  • Me, too . . . I watched this series on Channel 28 (KCET) in Los Angeles back in 1979 . . . they re-broadcast it a couple of years later. Flambards was classic British television.

  • This series appeared on ITV Friday night. cannot remember if it was between 8 and 9 or between 9 and 10. Either late 1978 or early 1979....... I'll get my coat

  • Im racking my brain now??? Mark, although he was a Clas A B****** he was rather Dishy and I had a crush on him Ha Ha. William was lovely but a bit Drippy. lol

  • Thanks for the share flybreath - Straight into my Programmes from childhood playlist. OMG the memories this evokes.

  • I do love this show so much that I consider the characters as friends, dear friends. I have grown with them and shared laughs and tears. Amazing! and the music will hunt you for the rest of your life. I said it, this is a very special series. We bought the dvds and we watch it every Christmas.

  • My mum got me into the books. Since then I havent been able to put them down. I have read them about 3 times. When I found out it was on DVD, i had to get it1 :)

  • A quality series, with outstanding acting. This series really took the time to develop the story and characters. I love it. I was thrilled to find it on DVD and give it to my daughter, who is now a fan too. We need more entertainment like this.

  • @BabsLongfellow We definatly do; we need more clean entertainment like this, less EastEnders disfunctional familes type :-)

  • still haunted by this tune. Thx for posting it. Didn't it used to be on sunday afternoon? After "the Shillingbury Tales"

  • We love Flambards!!!!

  • I was a huge fan of the show when I was nine. My parents whom were fans of Dallas, could never fathom why.

  • I've seen this series a gazillion times, and this song always makes me cry because I know what's coming. I'm even tearing up now!

  • you can get the tune at television tunes . com free download!

I love it - takes me right back to being a kid, such a haunting tune

  • Ack! This song is still in my head nearly every day!

    Somebody help!

    It's driving me mad!

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

  • @faf587 Is it still in your head a year later?

Damn! Now you have it going around in my head! LOL

  • @faf587 hahaha yeah its really addictive !!

  • @faf587 I know what you mean mate

  • This brings me back! Loved this show as a kid, bought all the books, still dip into them now and again :-)

  • I borrowed the whole Flambards series from my local library for the first time recently and was absolutely mesmerised by it. When this song unexpectedly came on during their cross channel flight I thought "wow! What a great touch". The whole series is one of those rare gems from the late 1970s. Such great characters and even though Mark is obnoxious he is one of my favourites because he does have a heart. I always knew he was in love with Christina (who wouldn't be?). But she loved William.

  • Pure take me back to the Seventies. Awesome

  • Any Idea here the TV series location/House was?

    Yorkshire?

  • I know it was Yorkshire, but as to where the exact whereabouts I am clueless.

  • Comment removed

  • The scenery around the grounds of their estate reminds me of Summit Ave. in St. Paul, MN when a wee lad. . . Series sets me mind back to those days, great series indeed.

  • It was filmed at Broughton Hall, Broughton, Skipton, North Yorkshire.

  • Thank You very much for that info.

  • i think some of it was set at Bramham Park, North Yorkshire

  • @TeeVeeNZ

    According to IMDB

Broughton Hall, Broughton, Skipton, North Yorkshire, England, UK (Hunt Ball)

Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal, Ripon, North Yorkshire, England, UK

    Ripon, North Yorkshire, England, UK

Sawley Church, Sawley, North Yorkshire, England, UK (wedding scenes)

Sawley Hall, Sawley, North Yorkshire, England, UK (Flambards)

  • @TeeVeeNZ NO it's in Devon it's called 'Flambards Country' and you can go there- my mum's been and said its disappointing!

  • @TeeVeeNZ The house was Sawley Hall, Sawley, near Ripon. If you Google it you should find a recent brochure for the house which has been for sale (asking £10 million). Must say I loathe what has been done to the house... It was used as an orphanage during the war, which is quite appropriate.

  • i just recently saw this series. my mother rented it and i really had no interest in watching it. When i sat down for a few minutes to appease her i was hooked. i have really fallen in love with this story. everyone should see it. Its a hidden love story that i think many girls that love Jane Austen will love. its not just for the old folk this 20 year old loved it. oh and this song will stay in your head for a very long time after you've heard it.:)

  • Loved this series and, in particular, loved this song!!! I wish it was available somewhere without the airplane sounds in the background!! I'd love to have it on my iPod!!! Thanks so much for posting it!!!

  • Flambards was the biz loved it as a kid! the tune does stick in the head!

  • I remember this when I was a youngster. Very haunting music.

  • The music in this series is wierd, both this and the theme.

  • I was a young kid when this was on tv but I loved Flambards, as did the whole family. The theme tune was most memorable and even now, very occasionally, it pops into my head when I'm in the car on my own 'flying' down the motorway on my way to work. Cracking tune!

  • The songs great! but I must say that young man is a maniac! so irresponsible that flimsy plane could easily have ditched in sea or crashed in2 the cliffs!

  • So you would rather people never bothered with flying?

  • Hi, I write from Lima, Peru. Thank you for posting this video. I'm 43 years old and I saw the series in 1979(:o). It's a pity that there is no DVD copies of this series available in peruvian stores nor, at least, of the novels. I like the song because is charming, poetic and innocent.

There was another video in You Tube, precisely with this chapter, when William and Christina fly over the Channel, but it was retired. Could someone post that complete chapter, please? :)

    Thank you again

  • You could probably order it off the internet.

  • I got the dvd when it was re-released last year, I think and it had a free bonus cd of the whole of the soundtrack. I bought it on lp in the early 80's and had a terrible job to get it then!

  • Oh my dear lord.... I haven't heard this song in about 30 odd years!!!

  • Oh,I was so young when I watched this tv serie It was one of the english productions I loved to watch in Italy, my country

    Thank you so much :)

  • My parents named me after this song! I had never heard the actual song until now, only my mom singing it to me when I was a little girl. How great is that!

  • My middle name comes from William in this series (seriously). I like the character too. He's a free thinker and a creative tinkerer, and I've always liked that.

  • cool

  • I remember watching this series when I was younger and I absolutely loved it from the first episode ... infact i have just bought the entire series on DVD

  • ..and the opening titles, please?

  • I love this song , it reminds me of good times, and the prog was smashing...

    Dot

  • Does anyone know who the blonde actress is at the beginning of this vid? This choon is a bit corny unlike the theme tune to Flambards. Gosh where did my childhood go?

    Great series though.

  • Yes, the actress is Carol Leader. The character is Dorothy, the nice rich girl whose daddy owned a hotel. I loved this series, too. I have the shows on dvd, but I really wanted the soundtrack. Is it out there?

  • Many thanks for your interesting and informative comment! Nice one, I don't have it on DVD yet but the soundtrack is paramount. Beautiful haunting tunes. Thanks!

  • YouTube is just so good at taking you back to moments, events, tunes you thought you would never see again.

  • Funny how a song stays in your mind for years

Finding "Christina" from "Flambards" on here is such a bonus. Hadn't heard it for years except in my mind! Thanks.

  • 5/5!!

  • i named my daugter after the charecter in this movie shes 11 now

  • I can remember this from a kid.I stupidly thought it was flambags! Was always humming this tune and now, thanks,i've heard it again after many years and know the proper name of the programme haha.
