This is crazy. Was just on the news where soldiers sent to Afghanistan 5 times. in Vietnam soldiers only had to serve 1 tour of duty and then they go home. 5 Times is too stressful. See YT video just posted:

Soldiers who went to Afghanistan 5 times most likely re-enlisted to stay in the Army, and serve another tour. Those Vietnam soldiers were just draftees serving 1 enlistment. Not career soldiers.

Theoretically it's not, there was major disagreement's in the Bush administration between the Pentagon and the State Dept, both had plans for Iraq's oil, one wanted to privatize the oil the other wanted to maintain the state monopoly, one was pro-OPEC the other was anti-OPEC.

Pat is definitely one of the most reasonable politicians in US. McChrystal is a military specialist and Biden is just who knows what. so, McChrystals' point of view should prevail despite fears of vietnamization. and will vietnamization happen? depends on the strategy. simple military surge to hundreds thousands troops is a proper way to get another vietnam. but when coupled with the search for acceptable agreement with all parties it may work. otherwise, bleed and pay endlessly.
