Thanks to your video and living in west palm beach, I visited Ed at Southern J ranch and purchased some everglades tomato plants, a muscadine grape plant and a dragon fruit plant. Thanks for the great information.
I discovered your show while researching Scarlet Runner beans today, and have enjoyed this episode. You have encouraged me to do more research into annuals (and perennials) that are naturalized to Central Texas.
Thank you for the southern Florida coverage. WE are new to florida and are so excited to learn about the native plants. Thank you - thank you- thank you!
Hi John, I really enjoy your videos. Thanks heaps for this one, I already ordered some seeds and can't wait to plant them. Are they perennial in South Carolina?
Great stuff and John - your enthusiasm is incredible! One thing though - the Bhut Jolokia was dethroned as king by a Pepper called the Butch T out of Australia as the world's hottest Pepper.
I think I have those everglade tomatoes. I found a bunch of lil plants growing in the backyard. I couldn't see them just die this winter. So I potted them up and put them on my porch greenhouse. They are thriving! Now I know what their name is. thanks
John, big fan here, I would like to go to that nursery and buy some plants but they dont seem to be listed in phone book. Do you have contact information so I can call or go to their nursery? I live in Broward (you were in Broward County when you were at the Davie Nursery) and Id love to go to that nursery in West Palm.
I misheard your comment about the heirlooms being defoliated. I thought you implied the tomatoes were defoliated by the grower but I must have missed the part about 'wind damage' the first time.
Hey John, this is off topic but I live in south florida & Im growing a garden of spinach. I have one patch of spinach in one bed among other plants & I have another bed full of spinach only. They're young seedlings & I check them everyday & I see they have little bite marks on them. The other patch of spinach i have in my other bed has ahpids. What would you recommend to get rid of those ahpids & other insects. Mind you my soil is mixed with mushroom compost and horse manure. Thank you
John, have you ever thought about growing Autumn olive? I have heard some amazing things about them. Higher in lycopene than tomatoes, very disease and pest resistant, and produces enormous amounts of fruit. Might be a good one to think about.
JOHN!!! How can I share this with our community garden after that starfruit comment! Pfffftttt! I picked some star fruit right off my friends tree today after our hike along the SWA Greenway Trail System.
I would have given a kidney to see you eat that ghost pepper. Neither of those web sites were correct. Can you please spell them out for us so we can purchase from them. Thanks.
@growingyourgreens Well I was Hoping like in Your older videos you Say the prices on the show as you go showing the Items, I mean I live in Souther California but I am not sure why but the episode sounds better when You say the prices. But I cant Complain as all your Videos are Pretty Awesome already.
John, Your awesome! I'm in Florida, and never heard of everglades tomato. I just ordered some seeds. I love food that's easy to grow and drought tolerant. Thanks for the great video!
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I love it! I've cleaned the Greenhouse out today ready for the 2012 growing season and I'm propogating stuff too. Keep on growing John!
How are the papayas in hawaii geneticly modified? Is it more bug resistence? Mine got too tall to pick the fruit, the birds made a mess so someone had to cut it down
I grow everglades tomato. There are some more facts about it. 1. You can plant raw fruits and get plants out of the seeds without fermenting or drying. 2. When you plant it in the north it grows even bigger and better and puts out even more fruits. 3. Seeds will stay dormant in winters in the north in the ground and will pop up in the spring. 4. I also grow a plant similar to the everglades called Mexican wild coyote yellow tomato. Just like the everglades but is wild also and yellow.
I really enjoyed the production of this video. I did comment to Ed that I really enjoyed myself filming this episode, and his family even came out to watch this "Youtube Star" film this episode.. I encourage all my viewers to do something everyday that LIGHTS YOU UP and HAVE FUN each and every day.
@growingyourgreens I enjoyed your videos, but my only complaint is when the camera gets close to you the audio gets too loud. Please use the zoom function rather stick the camera too close to you.

bluemystic7502 4 weeks ago
In what situation? It may have some value in certain instances, but in general, I don't recommend it.
