I saw the Henie musuem and grave in Oslo. The Norwegians took a long time to forgive Henie and she had become an American citizen also. The torch passed the grave on the way to Lilehammer in 1994.
yes i respect her to a degree she did a lot for skating but she was rude. also on wikipedia (not sure if this is a trustable source) it said she was kinda afiliated with hitler. nice emblem of skating to worship, huh??...
Well..Hitler is a big subject, and it was easy to see how Germans supported him initially. So many diplomatic mistakes were made,as they are being made now(Many Americans feel an untested Barak Obama is a savior It is easy to slip into fascism, be it left or right!) Few World skating champs are not egotistical. Takes a mature skater, to at least hide it! She was a Hollywood star. Few at the time scrutinized people as they do today. Most were happily ignorant. I say "Enjoy the skating" best wishes
I remeber hearing that many of the other skaters disliked her. They felt that she had an unfair advantage because her father could afford very nice costumes that the other ladies could not. As well as Sonja's fame grew she became increasingly arrogant and rude, especially at either the 32' or 36' Games. After the competition she actually screamed accross the rink at one of her competitors and said, "i beat you".
I thought that too, especially about the last frames, but the earlier girl seems to plump and frumpy to be Barbara Ann Scott....but it certainly could be!! Maybe someone who knows her, could email this to her...for verification!! thanks for note though!!
this is really somthin! I didn't know they did that then, wow!

@Kipnepi Many skaters feel this way toward Tara Lipinski. She and Sarah Hughes don't have the fan adoration that Janet Lynn and Michele Kwan had.

That's not Sonja Henie at the end, that's a clip of Barbara Ann Scott's 1948 Olympic program!
