This game promised so much and has fell flat on it's face.
It's stale beyond a joke thanks to the exact same flaws the series has always been cursed with! The sound is horendously dull and flat (no excuses for that with a Blu Ray game), the handling and camera are still stiffer than a perverts c*ck and the car list is FULL to the brim of boring "Jap Crap" nobody except Kaz wants.
Gran Turismo games are excellent, except for one thing: the external view (car chase)... I never could force me to like the way the car stays almost static in the middle... for example, GRID has a very very good external view, in fact is probably the only game I play using that view almost as much the inside view... I hoped they would realize that for GT5, but the same glued feeling remains... anyhows... the cockpit view looks extremely amazing! and the weather effects... ohh my...
ok the graphics look great on gt5, but the gameplay looks like shit, boring and arcady. for a game thats been delayed for so long i expected much more.
I don't really care much about what genre people label a game, but if it troubles you, then you should be very grateful for the seemingly comfortable life you have. Not everyone has the luxury to be worked up about things like that.
@elpaelpa Same thing for me. I expceted at least something close to simulation...but its a total arcade. It feels very similar to NFS:shift to drive. Basicaly, only a crazy person (or ones who havent driven a real car) could call this anything else than arcade. The only good things are graphics and choise of cars / tracks. But sounds, physics, handling, feel of the game, force feedback...its just bad.
@gangshier Pretty dumb statement. Do you really think that games improve massively in a mere 12 months? On the same console generation? Why can you not compare 2 racing games with very similar play structures, huge variety of cars etc etc.? Forza 3 is very good btw, I had a lot of fun with it and the racing was far more interesting than any GT I've played yet but I can't comment on GT5 till I play it. And I have Wednesday booked off work to do just that!

Forza 3 has engineers from all over the world who worked hard to deliver real driving simulation. Everything from how how your tires get, to how worn down your clutch and transmission gets, to how your bumpers are doing effect the speed, power, and drivability of every vehicle. GT does not have that. In fact, Gran Turismo did not even have internal damage 'til the new update, and I think it doesn't even work on all cars.

Cars is my life, i love car video games and I too was a gt fan until forza came. Its just so much better in terms of car physics and feel of the car. In forza it really feels like you are in total control of whats going on. And dont get me started on the audio effects. Of course gt have more fans, its been around since 98! But forza is gaining, and that fast!

@dikiminster forza is a game that you can just pick up and start playing..i've found the gt games demand a lot more practice to get good at them..that might be my lame video game skill but ultimately i find gt way more rewarding..just bare this in mind when you get gt..i hope you enjoy it

I'm a ps3 owner, but I still think forza had the engine sounds down to a science. All cars sounded exactly like their counterpart. In this game the cars just sound like something. I really hope it's only 'cause I'm hearing it thru YouTube on my iphone. If after all this wait, polyphony has yet again dropped the ball on realistic engine sounds, lotta people gonna pissed. Have us wait this long just for more cars is not cutting it anymore. We need motor swaps, real engine sounds, etc.

this looks great. but to be honest I expected a bigger jump from forza 3. I think that Forza 4 will be amazing. Forza 3 has the best combination of cars Ive ever seen in any racing game. Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, Bugatti, Koenniggsegg, pagani you name it its there. And they keep adding. ENGINE sounds is fucking awesome plus the way the cars feel and handle. I know that they can upgrade the interiors but its not bad. Forza 4 will give gt5 a challenge. Remember forza3 came out almost 2 years ago

@krugerwr sure i played forza 3..maybe i think the driving mode in forza is not relistic because i played for 4 years gt4 and was a masterpiece...so forza 3 doesnt feel special....but really the combinations of car's in Forza 3 is really great..they are adding every new car who comes out with new game packs too...different from Gt4 ( or all Gt series,not GT5 because isnt out yet) who have 800 cars...and 450 of them are JDM cars with at least 5 different versions of the same car..
@ilikefish54 I see the point you are trying to make, but GT5 has been in production for 5 years. Forza 3 was in production for a little more than 3 years. Lets not forget that GT came out with GT for PSP and GT5 prologue, which has been improved for the final GT5 not just added on. One reason GT5 got delayed is cause in mid-production they got the right to put in NASCAR, which offsets the whole plan.
8 cars. Very very dissapointing, the game promised around 15 cars at a time racing, the only thing i wanted from gran turismo, more cars. Two isn't enough.
Still, its the only reason why I'm buying the PS3

GT5 Is better than forza and the reason they havn't done 1000 cars with interior view is because they took so long just to put the detail into one. This game promised so much and has fell flat on it's face.
It's stale beyond a joke thanks to the exact same flaws the series has always been cursed with! The sound is horendously dull and flat (no excuses for that with a Blu Ray game), the handling and camera are still stiffer than a perverts c*ck and the car list is FULL to the brim of boring "Jap Crap" nobody except Kaz wants.

Gran Turismo games are excellent, except for one thing: the external view (car chase)... I never could force me to like the way the car stays almost static in the middle... for example, GRID has a very very good external view, in fact is probably the only game I play using that view almost as much the inside view... I hoped they would realize that for GT5, but the same glued feeling remains... anyhows... the cockpit view looks extremely amazing! and the weather effects... ohh my...

The lighting engine here destroys forza. Overall though the base graphics aint much better. The lighting does the trick.

@elpaelpa Same thing for me. I expceted at least something close to simulation...but its a total arcade. It feels very similar to NFS:shift to drive. Basicaly, only a crazy person (or ones who havent driven a real car) could call this anything else than arcade. The only good things are graphics and choise of cars / tracks. But sounds, physics, handling, feel of the game, force feedback...its just bad.

@gangshier Pretty dumb statement. Do you really think that games improve massively in a mere 12 months? On the same console generation? Why can you not compare 2 racing games with very similar play structures, huge variety of cars etc etc.? Forza 3 is very good btw, I had a lot of fun with it and the racing was far more interesting than any GT I've played yet but I can't comment on GT5 till I play it. And I have Wednesday booked off work to do just that!

@mortalbos7 ACTUALLY forza DOES have ALOT of THINGS that ARE better THAN gt5 LIKE the PERSONALIZATION and EVERY car HAS a COCKPIT view AND the ONLINE is SET up BETTER, but WHEN it COMES down TO just DRIVING, thats WHERE gt5 DOMINATES and THATS where IT counts. ( oh and time in development is irrelevent, they weren't racing eachother, forgive the pun).

Forza 3 has engineers from all over the world who worked hard to deliver real driving simulation. Everything from how how your tires get, to how worn down your clutch and transmission gets, to how your bumpers are doing effect the speed, power, and drivability of every vehicle. GT does not have that. In fact, Gran Turismo did not even have internal damage 'til the new update, and I think it doesn't even work on all cars.
GT is DEFINITELY better right?

I'm in a marine mechanics shop where I have to take apart an engine, fix everything wrong with it, and it has to run by the end of the quarter or else I fail. And guess what, I've fixed two out of two engines so far. Woop dee freaking doo. I know everything about engines, and car systems. Transmission, drive shafts, braking, differentials, clutches, etc I know how they all work. And come back when you stop playing Yugioh

Some prefer realism and go for f3, others prefer a big name and go for what they think is simulation, maybe it was year 1999 but things have changed. Cheers

Race drivers say GT is realistic an Sebastian Loeb used GT4 to train for the 2006 LM24 which he placed 2nd in. Now who would I trust some clueless guy who's never driven a car in real life and thinks forza 3 is realistic, or an actual race car driver who races cars for a living? Like I said there's more GT fans than Forza fans so only an idiot in denial would think the polls are 50/50.

@windflasher0 for your information, i too have a racing license and have driven on several tracks. Nurburgring is my favourite though. Cars is my life, i love car video games and I too was a gt fan until forza came. Its just so much better in terms of car physics and feel of the car. In forza it really feels like you are in total control of whats going on. And dont get me started on the audio effects. Of course gt have more fans, its been around since 98! But forza is gaining, and that fast!

I really hope this does 'shit on Forza'. Forza 3 is my current fave driving game. Never played a GT game (only had my PS3 a few months.) Looking forward to next week. It had better live up to the hype, all you PS3 fans. :-P

@dikiminster forza is a game that you can just pick up and start playing..i've found the gt games demand a lot more practice to get good at them..that might be my lame video game skill but ultimately i find gt way more rewarding..just bare this in mind when you get gt..i hope you enjoy it

I'm a ps3 owner, but I still think forza had the engine sounds down to a science. All cars sounded exactly like their counterpart. In this game the cars just sound like something. I really hope it's only 'cause I'm hearing it thru YouTube on my iphone. If after all this wait, polyphony has yet again dropped the ball on realistic engine sounds, lotta people gonna pissed. Have us wait this long just for more cars is not cutting it anymore. We need motor swaps, real engine sounds, etc.

I listened to forza on YouTube as well, and forza still sound better, supra sounds like supra with BOV sounds, 350z sound just like the real thing etc. In this game, the car sounds like something generic, like it could be any car, not like the one being driven in the game. Listen to forza 3 and tell me there is an engine sound difference

this looks great. but to be honest I expected a bigger jump from forza 3. I think that Forza 4 will be amazing. Forza 3 has the best combination of cars Ive ever seen in any racing game. Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, Bugatti, Koenniggsegg, pagani you name it its there. And they keep adding. ENGINE sounds is fucking awesome plus the way the cars feel and handle. I know that they can upgrade the interiors but its not bad. Forza 4 will give gt5 a challenge. Remember forza3 came out almost 2 years ago

@krugerwr sure i played forza 3..maybe i think the driving mode in forza is not relistic because i played for 4 years gt4 and was a masterpiece...so forza 3 doesnt feel special....but really the combinations of car's in Forza 3 is really great..they are adding every new car who comes out with new game packs too...different from Gt4 ( or all Gt series,not GT5 because isnt out yet) who have 800 cars...and 450 of them are JDM cars with at least 5 different versions of the same car..

@ilikefish54 I see the point you are trying to make, but GT5 has been in production for 5 years. Forza 3 was in production for a little more than 3 years. Lets not forget that GT came out with GT for PSP and GT5 prologue, which has been improved for the final GT5 not just added on. One reason GT5 got delayed is cause in mid-production they got the right to put in NASCAR, which offsets the whole plan.

8 cars. Very very dissapointing, the game promised around 15 cars at a time racing, the only thing i wanted from gran turismo, more cars. Two isn't enough.
