I work for a paving company here in pa and we do alot of milling with machines like that and we do use swank alot really nice guys but like to overload the trucks. We just did a job and i had a load of millings i took to the plant that was 87,000 in a triaxle lol
heyyy thats my papas old company he usde to be the sales man and make all the jobs i must have rode on every machine Garrity owned brings back alot of memories , please message back
yeah there are huge in RI mass and Ct i see swank sometimes to do alot of jobs i love to see a dressed up roadtec rx 900 i seen one this summer with a wider drum then the machine !!
whose swank? and yeahh they got some pretty big cold planers and they also have 1 or 2 grinders ,they used to have more but one caught on fire and burnt to the ground like 2 or 3 summers back , did you ever meet any of the guys from Garrity?
swank is a milling company out of PA they do alot of highway jobs and its funny you say that about the guys from swank i met 3 of them just a few weeks ago they were servicing the machine after a job getting ready to take it some place eles wish it was running but oh well cool people though
Since you mentioned about Swank, they sub-contracted with the milling for Pike Industries on the I-295 reconstruction project up in Maine back in 2008.Swank used their Wirtgen milling machines on that job.
That 's 1 powerful asphalt ripper! I remember seeing a few of these operate like this back up North!!! I sure wish there is a microsoft video game sim in which I can operate that all day!!
I also like that old Mack RD series dump truck that's being loaded!! I sure miss seeing Mack RD series trucks like this before I left NY!!!! 5 Stars!!!!
When the machine is winding down, it almost sounds like gas turbines shutting down. Now, I know the PR800-7 is powered by an 860 HP piston engine, but I wonder how one would do if it were powered by a pair of 3000 shaft-horsepower GE gas turbines (like the ones that power army Blackhawks), with hydrostatic drive to the drum. That would be sheer insanity.
yes! i thought i was the only one who thought about this! we were talking about modding a 900 with a 48" drum and rigging five foot conveyors. 24" deep @ 60 foot a minute with 2 miles of trucks lined up. win.
I work for Garrity i am an Bobcat operator and no you do not need a license to operate the mill. You need to be apart of a local operating engineers union to run these machines due to the fact that most jobs are union. I love my job and working with these big machines is amazing!
Oh, like take to training for how to operation on grarrity or planer and, you said "be apart of a local operating engineers union" now I understand now so THANK YOU for info!!!
Big machine, what city is this in? and I am assuming it is a DOT job, How come they are not using better traffic controls, I see only a few cones, no flaggers.
