  • but its still all scripted...

  • Ric Flair has said time and time again that Race is the toughest SOB ever!

  • @danielria Ric Flair is a d bag lol but hes right this time.

  • Harley Race bled into a pool of kerosene and that's how Chuck Norris was conceived.

  • @JCrumzz tts becoz cena is the greatest.. Cena rox!!

  • Hearing Harley Race speak pisses me off that Cena has the title as many times as he had.

  • @JCrumzz I know, back in the day you had to whoop a motherfuckers ass to get that damn belt, now all it takes is Vince McMahon wanting to get into your pants.

  • "Buddy, this is symbolic of being everything that any human being ever wanted to be."

  • When was this filmed?

  • harley race is such a bad ass

  • jr or mean gene who was the better host

  • This stuff is fascinating! I could sit here and listen to their stories all day long. Thanks for posting

  • every legends rountable video i ve found is always missing one part.

  • Jesus, Harley's promo is just chilling. So intense, so direct, and yet so much pride and passion.

  • Now that is how to make a title important! Epic promo!

  • one thing that I always from old promo is they showed it with passion

  • I'm hoping for a Harley Race DVD at some point.

  • Harley Race's promo is one of the best I've seen. Ever.

  • WHAT TIME IS IT?

  • @romeoonelove1 4.00pm

  • @romeoonelove1 4.04pm

  • i love Harley Race they dont make wrestlers like that anymore.

  • @drewbrownlee10 Leave Pat Patterson alone!!! He maybe homosexual, but at least he's a man's man about it.

  • La manera en que Mick Foley imito la forma de hablar de Harley Race fue excelente, nesecitan a Booby "The Brain" Heenan en estos paneles.

  • Ken Shamrock

  • If Harley Race isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame already, they really, REALLY need to put him in there.

  • @Boman803 He already is...

  • @Boman803 he is, 2004

  • @Boman803 He was in 2004 same year as Hennan ventura, superstar graham watch?v=VtedPOjXe7s Flair inducted him saying "Harley was the epitome of what a man was in this business" "No one deserves more respect for being a man's man, day in and day out, going to work, working harder, longer than Harley Race." Watch Flairs retirement on raw Closely, When Harley came to the ring even though it was his night Ric went over and held the ropes open for him He didn't do it for anyone else.

  • @bigrigbob2010 well, Harley Race is one of the reason Ric Flair went into Pro Wrestling bussiness..

  • @Fidodido6113 For sure, another example of how much respect Harley has at the Ric retirement Michelle McCool(?) and Mickie James escorted him to the ring when he came out. None of the other legends came out with a diva on each arm or even one walking them to the ring... just Harley.

  • Harley Race is a True Legend.....

  • @JeffTheFutureJaros Amen! In my opinion, he was the best NWA World Champion of all time!

  • @samsdaddy0525 Arguably he was.

  • soamoan would kick your ass

  • the wrestlers of yesterday was pub brawls haha

    drunk ass hillbilles

  • I bet Pat Patterson is thinking about touchin a ring boys dick while hes telling this story.

  • cow palace baby!!

  • They should pay Harley Race to deliver that same promo but with the WWE Title so it can mean something again.

  • The toughest guy, I saw/heard about in British wrestling was Les Kellett. He was this tiny little guy, who played a comedy charachter, but all the other guys were sacred of him. Somtimes he randomly just hurt people in the ring for no reason. He used to keep pigs, and was bitten, had an infected hand. He ordered one of the other guys to stamp on to get rid of the pus. And when the guy said no he said "Stamp on it, or I will stamp on you". Adrian Street tells stories about him.

  • After seeing that Harley Race promo, the only thing that would come out of my mouth would be...

    YES SIR!!!

  • where Sid Vicious that a bad ass

  • That Harley Race promo is fukin epic and Harley was definitely a tough sob

  • Taz is a pussy.

  • HARLEY (RACE)-V-STU (HART)-V-DANNY (HODGE)...THE TRIPLE THREAT/3-WAY-DANCE 4 THE AGES...

  • Harley Race was a badass muthafucka. Listen to that promo. You don't fuck with Harley Race boy. When you wrestled Harley Race back in the 70s and 80s, Race not only took you to school and educated you, but he dealt out one hell of an asswhipping to anybody who stepped in that ring with him. Harley Race was a LEGTIMIATE TOUGH GUY. Absolutely nothing fake about him. And not only was he a great fighter, but Harley Race was an exceptional technical wrestler as well.

  • "When I hit him with my left, and he doesn't go down, I will wake around seeing what's holding him up".

    Harley Race's is badass!

  • Harley Race was intimidating, even when he's talking to the camera with those beady eyes and gravel voice.

  • Of course Vader was a softie. He was on a episode of Boy Meets World.

  • god these money promos that race did are amazing.

  • Vader looked intimidating but i read he was pretty sensitive

  • watch awa harley race vs larry z 1990. harlys old as hell but still beat down everyone of those wrestlers that came into split them up. just the nastiest headbuts youl ever see

  • THAT BREAK WAS TOO QUICK! I didn't even get to pee :{

  • Lesson learned for today,folks...NEVER MAKE HARLEY RACE REPEAT HIMSELF...HE WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR IT...LITERALLY &/OR FIGURATIVELY...

  • Harley Race's promo with the world title just destroyed about 98% of WWE and TNA's roster's promos for the last 15 years.

  • @AmericanNohbuddy last 15? so you mean rock, austin, jericho, hhh, eddie, foley, sting, nwo etc etc etc...and everyone else during the BIGGEST ERA of professional wrestling history couldn't hold a candle to harley? bullcrap

    that last 5-6 years maybe.

  • @sayanroy36

Yeah I said that. It was that good. You don't realize how good these guys were. They didn't have to rely on catchphrases, curse words, etc.

  • @AmericanNohbuddy

oh yeah i realize how generic most of the guys were in the mic at that time with the exception of a few like race. and catchphrases or not, the guys i mentioned would draw more any day of the week & incite a crowd more than race with their promos. old isn't always infallible.

and a dusty, flair or bockwinkel etc promo (without catchphrases) even from the early-mid 90s is better than this one from race. so as for 15 years, even 1995-96 JAKE ROBERTS says hell no.

  • @sayanroy36 HHH sure couldn't, nor could Rock. Maybe Steve Austin could.

  • @fjccommish

maybe? there's no maybe. any heel rock promo (when he didn't use much catchhrases) could turn the crowd like a bandmaster.

same for the heel hhh promos in the early 2000s when jr named him the cerebral assasin

oh and i forgot one of the best, mick foley....lets watch the "cane dewey" one. so yeah, my point stands.

  • @sayanroy36 Harley ran circles around Rock on the mic. Rock's promos may have turned the kids in the WWE crowd, but Harley's promos convinced people Harley and wrestling were real.

  • @fjccommish what kids? im pretty when he was drilling a hole in mankind's head with those 15 chairshots,or going one hour with the cerebral assasin, the hardcore fans who were cheering him were adults

  • @fjccommish Just not a good comparison. Different eras and different purposes.

  • @cbaldwinjr Yes. Harley's promos were to make people believe in wrestling and in Harley as a wrestler. Rock's promos were to make adolescents laugh.

  • @sayanroy36 That's right. Rock shouting slogans and catch phrases was nothing compared to Race.

  • Comment removed

  • @AmericanNohbuddy WITHOUT A DOUBT!!! If you look up the word INTIMIDATE in Webster's, it doesn't have a definition, it has that promo!!

  • @AmericanNohbuddy I agree 100% Race's Promos were great today's Wrestlers need to watch his promos to see how it is done.

  • @AmericanNohbuddy AGREED! Race was a BEAST.

  • Harley Race's style reminds me a bit of Clint Eastwood's characters, if not vice versa...

  • Is Tommy Billington / Dynamite Kid mentioned? Fromwhat I have always heard or read is that he was legit tough with some serious shooting ability. He also had a Napoleon complex & felt the need to prove himself often. Also going along with what Tazz said in an earlier part about taking punishment. The whole Dynamite Kid/Jacques thing, from all accounts he got hit with a fist wrapped around a roll of quarters & got hit repeatly & didn't go down.

  • @TNO73

    Dynamite was an asshole though.

  • I think the only reason Vader has a reputation as a bad ass is because he was stiff with other wrestlers, well at least until he worked for WWF where Vince and Shawn Michaels pretty much straightened him out.

  • @666Horns Jim Cornette, who was managing Vader at the time, talks about it in his interviews. Shawn Michaels would act more like a spoiled brat by threatening to have Vader fired in the middle of the match.

Like Tazz, Vader's a tough guy, but Leon White is a big old teddy bear. Vader was providing for a family, for his kids, and Michaels was out of line by threatening his livelihood with his unprofessional attitude in the middle of work.

  • Dude they need to put New Jack on this list 4real cuz he's a badd ass AND INSANE

  • john cena is a bad ass

  • @michaelwarnock BAD ASS SUCKY WRESTLER

  • That Harley Race promo is EXACTLY how a promo should be done.

  • i guess harley race didnt see what the franchise did!!!

  • That Harley Race promo was really cool and intense.

  • @8:59, cigarette in JR's hand =D

  • if u ever noticed &/or had a close-up view of the NWA Title(like the 1 Mr. Race has in his hands in that promo)...It says "WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT WRESTLING CHAMPION"...While other title belts have just simply "WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT WRESTLING CHAMPION"...I (personally) think that's awesome & sets it apart in its own, unique way...HARLEY RACE IS STILL THE MAN,imho!!!!!...

  • classic

  • Foley's impression of Harley is spot on..... priceless.

  • this round table thing might be one of the best ideas wwe has had in a long time

  • stone cold was a bad ass

  • @Darkstar27100 iunno but that was a bad ass promo lol

  • HaHa the doctor called him Mike!

  • i dont think id wanna take on road warriors either..if i were micheal.. but if i had terry gordy on my side...i wouldnt be so worried!

  • Wish somebody in wrestling now would show about a tenth of the intensity that Harley Race showed in that promo. Harley Race made the World Title mean something, not the other way around.

  • @Ventura827 heel Triple H comes close, but that's only because he models himself partially on Harley Race.

  • @Ventura827 Very well said. During one of his first WWF interviews on Tuesday Night Titans in 1986 Jake Roberts said it best :" A lot of people come out here and say things and scream and holler. I don't have to scream. because a long time ago I learned one thing, that if a man has enough power he can speak softly and everyone will listen ! So it's much easier that way isn't it? " Harley personified that with this interview, you can bet everyone listened.

  • @MrExposethetruth I think Jake's watched Harley Race promo by that time..

  • @Fidodido6113 LOL of course,I wasn't trying to suggest he was the first one to do soft but powerful interviews, but that he explained it well as to why they are just as effective if not more so.

  • @Ventura827 Absolutely. I remember when I first saw Race as King Harley Race in the first Royal Rumble. Such an ominous and foreboding voice. I wish I was 15 years younger so I could've seen him in AWA.

  • Patterson got upset when he realized it was about "Wrestling Bad Asses" and not "Wanting Ass Bad"

  • @Ventura827 I LOVE THE NWA WORLD HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPONSHIP IT IS JUST AWESOME .

  • they didn't talk about Vader :/

  • @kaneinite4eva

there is one story going around that vader got his ass kicked by mr wonderful paul orndorff. i don't if thats true or not but thats what i heard

  • @postman220289 Yeah it's true, Paul Orndorff kicked his ass backstage in shower shoes and cap XD

  • @postman220289 It's not only very true, Orndorff did that AFTER one side of his body had atrophied due to nerve damage. He basically kick Vader's ass with 1 arm.

  • @funkiersnoog

orndorff was a bad ass or vader was a pussy

  • @postman220289 I vote for Orndorff being a bad ass. Vader was still a 400 plus pound guy. To beat the snot out of a guy that size with 2 properly working arms is hard enough, doing it with only one is borderline impossible. Keep in mind, Vader had his eyeball pop out during a match, and kept going. A pussy wouldn't be able to do that.

  • @postman220289 Vader was a pussy ask Jim Cornette. He got his ass chewed out by Shawn Michaels and broke down in tears afterwards.

  • @ackattack1002 where di you hear that?

  • @hbk2hhh search jim cornette on vader

  • @postman220289

Paul was a legitimate bad ass (by all accounts) and Vader was super sensitive. Jim Cornette tells some stories where Vader took offense to some stuff Shawn Michaels did in the ring (not selling and yelling at him) and he came back stage crying.

  • @postman220289 Orndorff back in the day was a badass and Vader was very quiet outside of the ring. I think Bret and other said that he was a big teddy bear outside of the ring. So, I think its a mixture of both.

  • @postman220289

Vader was a pussy? Leon Vader White...the dude whose eye Stan Hansen pulled out of his socket and Vader put back in and continued the match is a pussy? Vader was no pussy and I'm willing to bet an out of shape Vader today could beat you like a rug if you had a year to train.

  • @funkiersnoog He also attacked Vader when his back was turned.

  • @Rimbaud1531 Yet it was still a 400 pound man vs a one armed man. Back turned or not, that's pretty impressive.

  • @funkiersnoog Orndorff had flip flops on too, lol

  • @funkiersnoog now, that's bad ass!

  • @funkiersnoog Similar story where Chris Jericho got in a fight with Goldberg backstage and Jericho beat his ass

  • @postman220289 Its true

  • @kaneinite4eva according to Jim Cornette Vader was a 'little teddy bear'

  • @kaneinite4eva

tazz got checked for saying I heard vader wasnt that tough

  • @usnavysss I've seen an interview on here with New Jack telling a story about tazz getting punked backstage at ecw.

  • @kaneinite4eva vader was actually a puss he couldnt do much, harley built up his character

  • @kaneinite4eva Many wrestlers/managers/bookers have called Vader a big teddy bear. All gimmick pretty much.

  • @kaneinite4eva in a Jim Cornette shoot he said Vader the man wasn't anything like the character. He was the most gentle guy and wouldn't hurt anyone.

  • @kaneinite4eva appearantly he was a pussy

  • yes bruser brode is name is frank

  • frank is the first name of bruser brodel i think im not sure tho

  • @postman220289 His name was Frank Goodish. RIP Brody.

  • @postman220289

    i thought so

vader acted like a badass. but could'nt back it up

  • @postman220289 Yeah, he kept it all in the ring. Didn't want any trouble outside of it.

  • @postman220289 if you listen to shoot interviews with jim cornette, he talks about how vader was quite a sensitive kind of guy, completely different from his in ring persona.

  • @RomalianType It's totally true, Vader was a very tough guy, worked very stiff, worked through a lot of pain, but he was a family man, working to provide for his family - as a matter of fact, his son's been recently signed to the WWE (look out for Jesse White). He wasn't a guy built around real machismo, he simply played a monster in the ring.

  • @DevilTakeMe I tell everyone I know that an in-his-prime Vader would be awesome in the current WWE. He'd be a believable monster heel for Cena, Orton, etc. to struggle against and would make their title reigns more believable.

  • @postman220289 cornette in the youshoot series said vader was pretty sensitive

  • @postman220289 Vader was actually pretty tough but he was very sensitive backstage and a real nice guy. So he was strong and tough but not a bad ass.

  • @postman220289 Vader only played a badass in the ring, he was a big teddy bear outside the ring. There's a lot of stories about how Shawn Michaels made him cry by threatening to get him fired, or Paul Orndorff kicking his ass in a shower while wearing flip-flops and with one arm.

Vader was still a big rough guy - the match where he popped his eye back into its socket proves it, but he never claimed to be a "badass" outside the ring.

  • @AzureDrachen The best example of that I ever heard was the famous "Joe Thurman Incident". Inside the ring, when the red light went on, Vader destroyed this jobber Joe Thurman and gave him a powerbomb. Vader in 1994 delivered possibly the most brutal powerbomb in the business and managed to break Joe's back with the force of the move, paralysing him from the waist down. When Vader got to the back, he was so worried that he'd badly hurt this kid that he burst into tears

  • @postman220289 Frank Godish

  • @postman220289 brusier brody real name was frank goodish

  • @postman220289 frnk goodish was Brody's real name

  • @postman220289 Frank Goodish was Bruiser's real name

  • @postman220289 Frank Googish, A K A Bruiser Brody. R I P

  • @postman220289 Frank Goodish was Bruiser Brody's real name.

  • this is good who is frank
