  • the minute were he talks about the material of the skin for the amp is priceless.

reverb is for faggots who want to want to pretend theyre playing live. I did that a lot for about the first year I played.

but i'm straight now, thanks to electro shock therapy

  • You were playing some nice lead work that actually did not use the pentatonic scale, that was nice to hear.

  • lose the baseball cap and well take you seriously

  • djnp on ebay has a pedal for one of these ending Aug 29, 201118:58:18 PDT

  • I would like to learn to surf from that guy.......he looks like a good surfer lol

  • This amp, my friend owns a music store in Plymouth, Michigan and I plugged into the one he has on display. It has such a sweet tone! Excellent for blues! I have not heard tone so killer out of a tube amp in a long time! There are the old reliable and well-known amps by Fender that we all know and trust for superior tone(s), but this amp gets a killer blues tone after the tubes warm up...Jayzus K. Rhyst! Plugged a Strat in and cranked the Master Volume, and OMG! Just killer tone! Great little amp

  • According to Wikipedia, the Ampeg Reverbrocket amp didn't come out until 1964. So I doubt seriously this amp is a 1959-60.

  • @zzlong55 its actually a j-12 jet amp your right

  • @guyinfuckinghat

Hey i own the j-12-A but no box of speaker.

Is it worth restoring or selling?

  • @drainocleanser i would say so i have seen restored ones going for 6 or 7 hundred bucks what year is it?

  • @guyinfuckinghat

Not sure..65 maybe? No dates. Looks brand new but i don't know about the tubes.

What standards for restoring? I don't think im going to be finding any original boxes for this any time soon.

  • @drainocleanser i wouldn't restore it tell you get someone to look at it

  • Wikipedia is so unreliable...

  • omg,, I don't think I've ever seen Dave actually play,, so you do play just hiding and keeping it all for yourself. I could see you wanting to unleash there for a sec. go for it man, stop being safe. I dont care if it's a demo, demo it bro. Lucky enough to play them, let's see what they can do besides some minor chords. Thanks

  • Can't you once review a clean sound without any REVERB?!!!

  • Jus sell it to me x]

  • I admire your work with next level guitar dude.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Reverend Pickles and ive been chosen to bring back the head of rock and roll...

Looking for those JV type Telecaster Geetars, made in Japan, you see one running around off the leash you call me first...

    See you in Church.

  • how many watts are these amps? and how much does it cost for one that is 100 watts and up

  • I bought the reissue Reverberocket. It's a 50- watt 2x12 combo with a beautiful clean tone. It almost soinds like a cross between a Fender and a Vox.

  • Less talk, more amp!

  • Boy this sure beats hearing that freaking line6 you always play through, it actually makes you play better Dave, you know it does too!!!

  • what a bean

  • me too

  • i like guys

  • me also

  • Cool Taliban sandals!

  • I have a '67 reverb-o-jet ampeg. It is super clean sounding & I like it a lot. They definately make nice amps.

  • late'72-early '73, Albert King toured w/18 year-old Hollywood Fats on 2nd guitar. Fats used a 'newer', (mid- '60's?) Reverb Rocket, side-by-side w/Albert's monstrous Acoustic 260. It was absolutely killer.

  • he said cuming

  • parla parla parla che palle sto uomo minuti persi x sentire nulla

  • OK, this amp has ultra smooth break-up. I believe 50% of Frampton's live tone is from the dual combo version of this circuit.

I prefer the rockets EQ balance over FDR's. These units are every bit booteek level.

Upon delivery, my P90 ax grinded hard and rung like a bell. My jaw was on the floor. Super lush reverb on tap too. $300!!!

I've read that speakers, such as a Fane Axiom or Altec 417 will brighten them, tighten the low- end when cranked and increase volume.

  • Is the guy in the video shotgun Mike?

  • i own a Nighthawk =D

  • how much do these amps range from for a goo one but affordable

  • They only make one guitar amp right now. It costs $850.

  • $350 to $450. I picked mine up for $300 back in '04.

  • the nighthawk guitar never caught on..maybe I shouldve bought one

  • can anyone tell me what scale he's playing at 3:26 and 3:32? maybe the tabs would be good too?

  • The lines he's playing are based on arpeggios (series of notes in a chord)

He's playing an Em arpeggio and then a Bm arpeggio with maybe a note or two from those scales.

  • Sorry the first one is an Em7 arpeggio.

He plays the chord and follows it with the arpeggio. Same with the Bm.

  • queer sandals.

  • @LikidySplitz i don't mind the sandals.. It's that hat that's throwing me off. I wear sandals at the beach. I also fuck girls, just so you don't get all confused and start a barrage of how gay everyone has become deal. I WANT THAT GIBSON!!!

  • @LikidySplitz Nice comment. How long did it take you to come up with it? Seriously, you're a genius! And really funny too! I can't stop laughing. BTW, I just checked out YOUR channel......let's leave it at that.

  • @LikidySplitz im sorry i thought this was about amps :)

  • Good equipment,lousy presentation.

  • Dude, if your going to exhibit gear on the internet, why dont you learn some more descriptive terminology beside Cool- Kinda cool-very cool! Also, when you noodle, get a damn metronome will you, your way out of time on the pickup on your jams. Another thing, I think you have the imporession that your a impressario, but your playing is average as hell. Finally, wipe off that shit eating grin.

  • @dickdog1 more like lickdog!! Lets hear yo chops fool....and yo not so S.Eatin Smile!?

  • got an ampeg gemini 1 from 64. amazing piece of work.

  • you need a muff fuzz

  • I just scored a beautiful '64 Reverberocket. The first digit in the serial number tells you what year it was built.

Hard to believe these wonderful amps have slipped through the radar.

The BEST reverb and Tremelo period!

Sadly the original Ampeg label CTS AlNiCo's

are only meant to handle 15 watts, where the amp delivers

21 watts RMS clean and 28 watts peak wide open.

  • I went to a pawn shop in my home town, and there was an original cherry red Gibson Nighthawk Special for sale. The gentleman wanted 200.00 for it, so I went across the street to use the ATM and I bought it. By far, the BEST impulse buy ever! i would strongly recommend one if you happen to run across one!

  • wow man, what a deal, what condition was it in?

  • It's had its fair share of wear, some scratches here and there, but it's been maintained well: the neck is straight, no cracks in the body, etc. sounds quite nice. The kind I have is a 94' original 3-pick up model. A fine piece of equipment if you ask me.

  • @1977Animals Decent second guitar only.but nice pickups.

  • i hav this amp the module tht was made in 1962 i found it in my grandparents attic just sittin there collecting dust so i took it n omg i fucking love it dude evrything on it is originol im suprised the tubes still work n everything

  • Thats a nice Gibson.

  • Can't crank it "in the studio"? Sounds like a pretty boring studio.

  • lol

  • @EdPolepsy Is that a name or a disease.Just kidding. You must of gotten that all yo life.?

  • ma basta non sai suonare e parli sempre a vuoto.hai solo molti dollari o molti euro per comprarti la merce.. ma non sai suonare e hai un tocco da schifo.

  • these amps are worth pobably over 10000 you idiot. have you ever even shopped for amps?

  • are YOU STUPID? CRATE is shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you gotta get the boutique crates to really know whats up, like the blue voodoo.....the low end crates make better toilets than amps.

  • @shortedaman Crate,Hi end models sound great! I dont know if they will last as long as my 60s Fender amps (seriously doubt it),but for a semi-pro,they are a very good deal.I am buying one for my studio(used cheap from pawn shop)cause it gets sounds my Fenders cant get without alot of tweaking. All in all,a very good (reliable?)sounding, cheap amp! I would not take it out without a groadcase though! My point they are not all Crap(Crate).

  • I have a late 1940's Ampeg Combo Bass Amp.

    Any takers?

  • How 39 Dollars Sounds to you?

  • That is a nice soundin amp.

  • those are really really quiet pups

  • this guy should make a cd of him just noodling as he calls it i'd buy it!

  • Too much money, too little sense.

  • David feels like a really nice person! I think he's a good private guitar teacher :D

  • That amp and guitar sound wonderful! Lovely playing too!

  • ladies and gentlemen...the electric guitar stylings of David Taub

  • i thought it was talb

  • that's the sound i want. does anyone know if the new ampeg j-20 has thing vibe? i want a cool 60s brian jonestown massacre/brian jones sound. clean but pushed slightly so its chimey. i have a vox ac30 but its not for me really and a blues deluxe which is ok but a bit cheap sounding

  • He's seems so happy

  • Too too much talk. We can figure out the controls if we are interested in one of these. Don't need so many details and so much talking. Just play the thing so that we can hear it - take it through it's various tones for us and just play it with much less talk.

  • He's showing guitars from a collection , not giving lessons, therefore he's showing the features.... whiner

  • Rev up the Reverborocket!

  • Cool Amp. Cool Guitar

  • We recorded some guitar tracks with a Vintage Ampeg and WOW! Those had to be some of the best guitar tones we've ever gotten. A perfect session amp. Now all I need is that Gibson Nighthawk. Ooh, listen to that tremolo, gives me chills. If only someone made a pedal that killer.

  • arent ampegs known more for bass amps?

  • Nope not really.

Well, to me they're more important for their vintage valve guitar and bass amps rather than their current line of bass amps.

Their vintage valve amps (both guitar and bass) are some of the best amps to plug your pedals into. Plus, they're fucking loud and dynamic. Very responsive.

  • good sounds..what was that song you were playing on this video th first one i mean:) cheers..

  • wow that trem sounds amazing, what a amp and guitar, nice vid dave!

  • i love that nighthawkkk

  • wow nice pickups

  • sweet!

  • cool!!!

  • Great video! Very interesting! Cheers!

  • really cool, how much is that stuff worth?

  • These's a message from god in that sound...

  • think you could play the 'Teisco EV2T' through this amp? it must sound killer.

  • WOW!thats crazy.Sounds really good.

  • love it,, sounds SO good man...5*'s!

  • cool amp ...

  • you are awsome dave!!!!!!!!

  • 5:45 sounds like No Quater

  • that tremolo is awseome with reverb

  • 1:26 look at the sandals^^

  • he`s from southern california, i think wearing sandals is a law there... :)

  • Yeah when I was there for 2 weeks I had to wear them. It's more of a subtle compulsion.

  • Where I live, EVERYONE wears sandals. What's the deal?

  • yeah me too its called summer

  • i know right...

  • I was kind of surprised.

  • Dude, i love u man, i aint gay or whatever but dude really appreciate that u are doing all these for us guitarist out here for free. i mean ur videos benefit not only expert guitar players but noobs like me as well. YOU know ur stuff and u know wad u are talking abt man.

  • Dave when are you gonna loose that hat???Your an adult now bud!

  • dang i want a night hawk soooo bad!

    myspace . com/page9

  • its amazing that amp still works . this collector has it going on. he should hire me to clean and play them . food , beer , and picks .

    that all i ask

  • who cares about the amp...any amp or pedal can do that tremolo effect and play clean, nicely aka fenders. But i'm more interested in that AWESOME gibson!!! If you guys want to see that guitar in action check out "failure - undone" on youtube and you can hear it played in their music video. it's very cool .
