Wow, great video! I've been riding, running and hiking trails in Evergreen and Conifer since the 96 and haven't run into one yet. Although my wife and kids have seen them at our home--they always seem to elude me! Thanks for sharing.
there should be no reason not to believe that there are mountain lions in/around Evergreen (at least one, anyway). I thought it was doubtful myself until I saw one myself about 7-8 years ago. The only reason I haven't seen more, I think, is that I moved from Colorado in 2005. I spotted the animal on Yankee Creek Road, while driving up the hill at night.
ha ha ha thats not to scary i went hunting in norwood colorado and on the trail behind me i had a mountain lion fallowing me. all i had was a 30-06 and about 7 knives but still that gets your heart pumping
Beautiful cat, was perfectly camoflaged when it sat behind the bush in front of the tree. I used to live in No. California old country, el dorado county. They are very illusive and rarely make contact with humans, and not many sightings of them.
Extremely cool footage - and kind of alarming too. This cat is out in broad daylight casually strolling near homes. A bit too bold, this cougar... and it looks very underfed... could be a dangerous combination.
We tag them and fit them with transmitters to detect any change in their numbers. We lose the signal, something has happened to the cat. It has nothing to do with their interactions with the human population nor is it in any way related to people's perception of their danger.
I grew up in Evergreen and lived there for 17 years. I never once saw one. I heard them, found their tracks in our driveway and I am sure that they saw me, but I have never spotted one. Thanks for sharing!! Where abouts in Evergree was this taken?
@vitaminj45 the funny thing is at the Quality Inn parking lot (in Evergreen), it even has a sign near the edge (there's a drop-off) warning about bears and mountain lions. The hotel is northwest of Evergreen, by I-70. I didn't see one though.
Why don't they use that king kong sized transmitter for something beneficial...like alerting the public that a giant predator is in their area so they can bring their pets and kids inside. This of course instead of the more logical solution that would have tree huggers flopping around, like killing the animal since it obviously isn't afraid of people. Oh, to have lived at the time of Kit Carson....
ITS LIKE HAVING TIGERS AND LIONS OMFG... i would move away

What was on his ears appeared to be I think a yellow thing on one and green thing on the other? What does underfed? mean?

@Kmbpeace It may have been radio collared by scientists to better understand its habits, territory, movements, etc.

What was on his ears? I snapped pics of mountain lion tracks behind my apartment on trail in Colorado Springs.

This one is either not fully grown yet or extremely underfed.
Either way, it shouldn't wander around houses like this... this spells trouble with a capital T and in most cases the cats lose...

Mother nature dosen't need management. Now the Colorado Division Of Wildlife is a different story. They could really use some management.

It's a shame that people have to tag it and put a transmitter on it. Even though they can be dangerous, they should be left alone.

@thegirl44 your right by tagging them we are learning more about them and helping their species

i was gonna say, what the heck is that stuff on his ears, but then you got a closeup. he's obviously been shot and tagged before.

You probably won't see one every day. Cougars are rather elusive. You might see several in one year, however.

I might be moving to Colorado Would i expect to see one evey day if so?
